Part 3: Wednesday 3rd December at 8.00pm: Damage limitation – God has a plan
We are sad to announce that Steve Podbury will be leaving his
position in the Parish Church Office on Friday, 21st November to
concentrate on his expanding IT business. Steve has very quickly
become an important member of staff and will be missed.
He will be doing some consultancy work for the Parish so you will
see him around the office at times. We wish him all the best.
St Nicholas Christmas Fayre, 5th December
and Christmas Tree Extravaganza 5 – 12th Dec
Yes, we are only three weeks away from this annual event and we need
you to search through your drawers and cupboards urgently and donate
all your unwanted gifts, bric a brac and items to make up our very
successful basket table. A full list of what is needed is included.
We need clean, non chipped mugs, empty baskets or suitable items to make up
hampers (eg large pot for gardening hamper), items for children’s tombola, quality
raffle prizes and bottles of any sort for our very successful bottle stall (eg wine, beer,
cider, soft drinks, sauce, in fact, anything that comes in a bottle!).
We need volunteers to run the raffle, help on the bottle stall and refreshments. Also
to help on the bric a brac stall, station game and other stalls.
Please volunteer even if only for an hour.
Finally, put the date in your diary and come along and help on the night – or if you
can’t manage that, can you spare some time in the week prior to help sort, pack
and label items. Speak to Sandra in the church office about any of
the above items – 01753 880067.
Also
On the Friday night and all day Saturday, the parish church will be open for people to
view the Christmas trees (and listen to the choir on the Friday!). There will be
refreshments and entertainment on the Saturday too. Please let me know if you can
come along and church sit for an hour at any time on Saturday.
Tearfund Ebola Crisis Appeal
Some of the poorest countries in West
Africa are facing national emergencies
as they wrestle with the deadly Ebola
virus outbreak.
The disease is leaving countless
children orphaned, stretching poorly
resourced health services to the limit,
hitting national economies and putting
back development gains by years.
If you would like to donate to this cause
then we will have an envelope in the
Parish Church Office.
