INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING JOB POSTING UQAUSIVUT PROJECT COORDINATOR(S) The Ottawa Inuit Children’s Centre is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to providing Inuit children with a learning environment that will enhance their overall development; fostering positive parenting through support and education; and promoting the retention of the Inuit culture and language. Position: Uqausivut Project Coordinator(s) Hours: 1 Full-time – 40 hours/week; 1 Part-time – 20 hours/week Salary: Range from $18.72/hr - $22.75/hr (depending on qualifications) Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Early Years and Community Initiatives, the Uqausivut Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning, development and delivery of all activities under the Uqausivut Language Program. Key Duties/Responsibilities: Plan and oversee all aspects of Inuktitut programming e.g. classes, camps, Instructor meetings, etc. Collect, develop maintain and catalogue a wide selection of cultural teaching materials and resources for the lending library. Manage the delivery and quality of Inuktitut lessons to children, youth and community, including Instructor availability. Provide resources and ongoing support to Inuktitut Instructors and OICC Cultural teachers. Meet all tracking, evaluation and reporting requirements of funder and OICC (client notes, attendance, maintaining project statistics, meeting project targets, creating surveys, completing Incident/Accident reports). Identify and report on concerns and issues related to the delivery of language programs and services to the Director of Early Years and Community Initiatives. Identify and coordinate culturally appropriate guest speakers, Elders and resource people for the program in collaboration with program staff Provide leadership and supervision to Uqausivut staff. Participate in the hiring process for Uqausivut staff in keeping with OICC policies and procedures e.g. Instructors, camp staff. Monitor performance and assist staff in their learning and development. Represent OICC at meetings, presentations and conferences with stakeholders including partner agencies, funders and government. Establish relationships that benefit the delivery of quality language programs and services. Qualifications: Inuit descent preferred Fluency in Inuktitut would be an asset Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children and families Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports High school diploma Post-secondary education in related field an asset Minimum two-years’ experience in project management, outreach, program delivery and quality assurance Experience working with Inuit or Aboriginal communities Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software Strong organizational, program planning, evaluation, fiscal management and problem-solving skills. Effective leadership skills.
