Eligibility*
Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) are for people who don’t have access to health care coverage they can afford. The programs listed above may
pay for all or a part of a person’s health insurance premium. To be eligible for a MHCP plan, individuals must meet income guidelines along with
program specific requirements. Examples of other requirements include, but are not requirements for all five MHCP plans include:
 Household size
 Can’t afford health insurance offered through your job
 Don’t have insurance because you’re unemployed
 Pregnancy, disability
 Chronic condition and need help paying for care and services so you can continue living in your home
 Need help paying for care in a nursing home, hospital or other medical facility
 Have Medicare and need help paying the premiums, or you need services that aren’t covered by Medicare
 Don’t have insurance for a variety of other reasons
