American Education Week is November 17 to 21. The week will start with a flag-raising ceremony and Proclamation at Orchard Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. As part of the
week’s activities, Kamden Gerhardt, Student Mayor from Orchard, will be presenting the Proclamation. There will be activities going on at various times during the week at all the schools. We
can be proud of all our schools and the hard-working, dedicated teachers who educate our children.
Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization is sponsoring the
Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 6, at 3:30 p.m. (a
new time). It is a Bicentennial theme as we end the 200th
anniversary of the founding of the City of Jackson. To get the
registration form for the Parade, email [email protected] or pick up a packet at the Jackson Area
Chamber of Commerce office at 125 East Main.
As we approach Thanksgiving, let us give thanks for all the
blessings bestowed upon us. As you think of your abundance,
please be generous in giving to the many programs going on
at this time of year to make sure others less fortunate have a
good holiday season. The Jackson Police Department is starting its toy drive, and all the schools are collecting food or toys
to be donated to a worthy cause. Our local Elks will also be
distributing their food baskets. Support the program(s) of your
choice. It will put you in the Christmas spirit.
Barbara Lohr, Mayor
