The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and be able to use appropriate behavior management techniques to maintain an effective classroom environment; will have excellent verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills; be able to work with diverse learners in a classroom setting; be able to assist the teachers in reinforcing materials and concepts; and be able to assist in creating a positive learning environment. Responsibilities include supervising and working with students who have received an in-school suspension or who have been sent to the ISS Room by an administrator or designee; assisting students with work assignments sent by classroom teachers; ensuring the assignments are completed and submitted to the appropriate teacher(s); entering student discipline information in School Max; and maintaining required record keeping for the ISS program. Physical Demands – Must be able to stand and walk the majority of the day; lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30) pounds frequently, and up to sixty (60) pounds occasionally; push or pull same amount frequently. Job may also require frequent bending, stooping, and crawling. This is a full time position. Salary is based on experience and a Grade 3 of the Classified Salary Schedule of the Rockdale County Public Schools.
