It literally means ‘sacred’ or ‘divine’ reading. It is a very old way of praying and was first introduced by the Benedictine monks. The art of reading scripture through Lectio Divina, of reflecting on the word and relating it to our lives, helps to bring us to a deeper understanding of God and to develop a more intimate relationship with him. Mercy When do we Meet You are invited to our Advent/Christmas Programme; Beginning : Tuesday, November 11th in the Convent of Mercy Morning Session : 10:40am ( after 10am Mass) or Evening Session: 7:00pm (for 1hr) A Special Invitation to Parents and Grandparents “The preparation of children for the sacraments of First Holy Communion & Confirmation is a joint School, Home, Parish Privilege and responsibility”. “The most effective preparation for children is when their Parents/Guardians are more actively involved in their sacramental journey”. The sacraments take place outside the classroom, in the Parish Church. Therefore, Parents/Grandparents are urged and encouraged to be present with their children/Grandchildren at the Sunday Eucharist. “Advent/Christmas is a special gift of God to his people”(Pope Benedict), So why not join our Parish Prayer Group as we pray and share God’s Holy Word in preparation for our Sunday Mass. The agency’s initial response is focused on raising awareness of how to reduce the risk of infection. Trócaire is also helping to provide food and counselling to families affected by the virus. The region is likely to experience food shortages over the coming months as a result of the disruption to the planting and harvesting seasons. Trócaire will be assisting communities to overcome food shortages in the months ahead.
