TERM 1 2015
COMMENCES
FOR STUDENTS

As our nation marks the centenary of ANZAC this year our Room 3 Year 1s proudly wore their hand made
poppies on Remembrance Day this week
From the Principal
Building Opening
A big thank you to all the parents and community
members who joined with us in opening our new
buildings last week. The choirs and band did a
fabulous job and it was great to welcome the
community into the classrooms which were
welcoming and busy.
School Opinion Surveys
The school opinion surveys which closed two weeks
ago, unfortunately did not have a section for
comments. I will be opening a separate survey,
specifically for your comments this week. A link to
this comments survey along with a personalised code
will be emailed to you in the next couple of days.
Graduation and Awards Night
Graduation Night is Tuesday 16 December running
from 7:00 to approximately 8:15pm on the terraced
area in front of the new buildings at school. This
event is to celebrate the Graduation of our year 6 and
7 students and to present class awards to students
from year 4 – 7. At this event our choirs and school
band will be performing. All parents are very cordially
invited.
North Cott’s Got Talent
Following the success of North Cott’s Got Talent over
the past few years, we will again be running this event
in 2014. Student auditions will commence shortly and
the finale will be a showcase on Friday December 12.
Walk to School Breakfast
Our Walk to School Breakfast for this term will be
held on Friday 21 November. This is arranged and
organised by the Walk to School Committee of the
P&C and is a wonderful way to encourage our
students to use active transport to get to school. This
provides them with some of the exercise they need
and also assists in reducing traffic around the school
with the associated benefits in terms of parking and
reducing pollution. I am looking forward to another
fun filled breakfast event!
Cake Stall
The cake stall at last weekend’s Cottesloe Village Fair
was extremely successful raising $1,115.00
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who
contributed to this.
Lapathon
The lapathon organised by the P&C last week saw our
students out being active in order to raise money to
benefit the school. This was again a successful event
with students actively involved.
From the Principal
Planning and Class Organisation for 2015
Planning for class structures and organisation for 2015 is well
underway. Thank you to those parents who have officially
notified the school if they are not returning in 2015. This
enables us to plan effectively for next year.
We will shortly be working on class placements for 2015. A
balance of academic, social and behavioural factors are
considered when placing students in classes. Should you have
any requests for class placements based on the specific
educational needs of your child, please send them in writing to
myself at the school by 28 November. Please do not send
requests for specific teachers as these will not be considered.
Please understand that while request relating to individual
needs are considered, due to a range of factors, they cannot
always be met.

the Western side of the railway. Cottesloe Council has given school families permission to park here for school
drop off and pick up. This is a restricted parking area for registered residents only, but by displaying
a Park&Walk sticker you may park here at school drop off and pick up times.

At least 60 minutes of
exercise each day
is recommended
for children.
