Focus groups in laboratory safety
Select one focus group that interests you, you may choose between:
i) Blood handling
Roland Möllby, MTC
Room: Wretlind
This focus group is for people working with blood in the laboratory. We will discuss
problems at the working site such as instructions, waste management, transport, etc.
ii) Needle handling exercise Helene Fredlund & Mats Spångberg, AFL, KM
Course lab
The exercise will focus on practical handling of needles from a biosafety point of view.
Techniques to avoid skin puncture accidents, aerosol formation and splash will be
practiced. In vivo and in vitro examples are demonstrated and practiced. (Max 12 students)
iii) GMM-retro- and lentiviral vectors Alf Grandien, MedH, KI Group room: Parker
Retro- and lentiviral expression vectors have become more and more appreciated tools in
many scientific fields. There are some aspects concerning biosafety of these vectors that
one should be aware of. My plan is to discuss these issues or any other issue concerning
use of these or similar vectors that you would like to bring up.
