THANK YOU, CAKE LOVERS Thanks to everyone who supported the cake stall last week – 6th Roundhay Guides and 2nd Roundhay Rangers made a net total of £113.68 for the Christmas annual appeal for others. CHURCH MEETING Wednesday 26 November 7.30pm The next Church Meeting will be held in the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday 26 November. All are very welcome to attend. The agenda and papers for the meeting will be available for collection from the front of church on Sunday 23 November. One of the main items on the agenda will be the national consultation within the URC on same sex marriage. As background to this debate please see the article in this month's church magazine entitled 'A Question for the Church'. That article makes reference to the booklet 'One plus One: thinking together about marriage'. A few copies will be available at the front of church for the next two weeks for you to borrow, read and pass on. AFTERNOON TEA EVENT Sunday 30 November 3-5pm (St Andrew’s Day) St Andrew’s Social Committee and Scouts (11th North Leeds) warmly invite you to attend a Family Afternoon Tea Event in the Sanctuary. Tickets – £4 Adults, £2 Children, £10 Family ticket – are on sale in the car park entrance after morning services or from Hilary Owens or at [email protected]. The money raised is to go towards the Explorer Unit trip to Switzerland in Summer 2015. A party of around 30 (22 young people + leaders) is travelling to Kandersteg, in southern Switzerland, to spend 2 weeks camping at the World Scout HQ. Whilst there they will be taking part in a range of adventurous activities and excursions to experience the culture of Switzerland. BUTTONS FOR YOUTH CLUB! The photographs featured reflect creation in each of our 1% Appeal countries: Palestine, India, Kenya and also from Madagascar, the base of the Opt-In medical charity. Copies of the calendar will be available to view and orders taken each Sunday in October in the car park entrance after the service. The young people are asking for a minimum donation of £8 to cover the cost of printing; however you may give more if you wish. All the profits will be divided between the four charities mentioned. This will be the charity’s biggest form of advertising ever. As these calendars are all Fair Trade, they will be available from the Fair Trade stall in December; you can also order them from Carol Fearn. Veronica Hood CHRISTMAS TOYS COLLECTION This month’s social justice collection is for Toys, books, and games, if possible new or nearly new, for babies up to teenagers. These will go to St George's Crypt and Pafras who distribute them to underprivileged families. Also we collect small gifts of Christmas food, toiletries and toys for Kidz Klub. All gifts can be placed into the red box in the car park entrance until 30 November. Thank you.
