JOB PURPOSE
The Website Manager will lead the development and delivery of content, services, and ecommerce
solutions through all rpharms.com websites. They are the custodian of the site managing its expansion,
the content and working across the organisation (and with the membership) to deliver the strategy
based on member focused content and services. The website is a key channel in the recruitment and
retention of Members and therefore the role is important in the financial growth and stability of the
RPS.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Responsible for the day to day management of the rpharms.com website, and its infrastructure,
application development, integration with other systems, and delivery of content.
2. Project manage new website developments from initiation to implementation by working with
internal clients to analyse and gather their business requirements and help shape documentation.
3. Working across the organisation to develop the RPS website strategy in order to maximise site
traffic (onsite and offsite), and income online.
4. Manage the Content Team (1 FTE) and Development Team (2 FTE and 1 FTC), by providing
strategic direction, managing team performance and identifying areas for staff development.
5. Manage the online needs and expectations for a diverse range of stakeholder groups, including
senior management and project groups.
6. Website monitoring and reporting - analysis of trends and extrapolation of future requirements
from an analysis of current audiences activities on rpharms.com and via social media monitoring.
Regular reporting of website performance and usage to the senior management team to aid decision
making and planning.
7. Manage relationships with third party technology service providers for app development and website
hosting, ensuring that project objectives are met and value for money is delivered.
8. Manage the annual website budget based on a clear understanding of the relative costs associated
with the activities that suppliers will undertake. Shape briefs and manage colleagues’ expectations of
what is possible for the available budget.
9. Oversees the production, editing and maintenance of all site content and copy.
Ensure the delivery of third-line user support from the website development team to clients if the
RPS support or membership teams (first and second line) can’t resolve the query.
10. Compliance, compatibility and regulatory requirements of the website.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS FOR THIS JOB

A graduate (or equivalent) with a good experience of managing a company website(s) and/or
online marketing with a sound understanding of how the web can support an organisation.

Good project management skills. A project management qualification such as Prince 2 or
Agile/Scrum would be advantageous.

Ability to critique briefs and creative – knows what works and is realistic.

Project delivery – strong track record in delivering technology based projects on time and to
budget.

Experience of delivering heavily “databased” projects with a large audience would be beneficial.

An analytical approach and experience in using Google Analytics, website optimisation &
monitoring tools in order to shape future developments, improve user experience, and to meet
business aims and objectives.

A proven track record in shaping the digital needs of an audience going through transition.

A good understanding of the power of data and how it can be used by marketing and
membership.

Up to date knowledge of, and experienced with using content management tools. Currently a
custom CMS for www.rpharms.com, and Wordpress for blog.rpharms.com .

Familiarity with CRM systems, concepts and how they relate to online.

An understanding of how ecommerce websites work and payment gateways.

Knowledge and practical experience of content marketing and SEO.

A working knowledge of HTML, CSS.

Digital content (text, images, video) creation using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
Premiere.

An understanding of website hosting and infrastructure.

Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; in particular “writing for the
web”.

Demonstrate the ability to self motivate, work in cross-functional teams and remain flexible.
Enthusiasm, energy and determination to achieve results;

Budget management experience;

Good listening, questioning and problem-solving skills.
