2014 Show Report
After a week of very changeable weather the morning of November 1 st turned out to be dry and
bright and it was still unseasonably warm for the time of year.
The vetting-in team did a great job and apart from one or two exhibitors forgetting to bring their
cat’s vaccination certificates the team had very few problems. At no time did a long queue build up
which pleased the waiting exhibitors. An incident in the M5 south bound from the Midlands meant a
few exhibitors were held up on their journey to Perdiswell but all cats were safely penned by the
time judging took place.
Thanks to Show Manager, Eileen, and her Assistant SM, Keith, the show got off to a good start with a
really good entry of Longhairs, Exotics, Semi Longhairs , Non Pedigrees and Pedigree Pets which
gave the judges plenty of cats to handle and assess throughout the day.
Pam and Ken Smith had a fantastic array of prizes on the raffle table. The majority of these prizes
were donated by Pam and Ken. The Club’s thanks to them. A sweepstake was also run during the day
and Terri White went home with her purse more full than when she arrived at the show hall that
morning. It was the first time the club had run a sweepstake and it proved very popular.
Show Manager Eileen, manning the microphone , and Keith holding the sweepstake tickets ready for
the draw. The winning ticket was drawn out by the Club’s President, Rita Quick. Keith then
presented the cash to the winner.
The Table Workers were once again supervised by Jean Huyton and the results were soon posted on
the results boards The previous day Jean had retired from full-time employment and she was
presented with a signed card and a bottle of bubbly Jenny Plant and Dot Rutter were kept busy with
marking up the rosettes and when the judges went off to their lunch a very willing group of helpers
soon got the rosettes out onto the pens.
Best of Variety judging took place at the pens . The cats awarded Best of Variety were then judged,
again at the pens and the winners were placed in the Best In Show Pens.
BEST IN SHOW LONGHAIR
SUP.UK OGIGC GEMKIN STARWIND – A beautiful longhaired White male, owner/breeder Mrs J L

BEST IN SHOW SEMI-LONGHAIR

The Overall Best in Show was chosen from these three cats by the very popular judge, Mrs Jean
Gillson. Jean gave a commentary on each of the cats and her choice for the top award was the
Siberian male kitten owned by Mrs F M Peace
Judge, Jean Gillson pictured here with proud owner Mrs F M Peace. Her lovely kitten was more
interested in the rosette than looking at the camera
In the Non -pedigree section
Mrs L Szwed’s IGMC Fluff , a semi longhair Brown Tabby male neuter
And
Mrs G Walton’s GMC Christabelle, a longhair Tortie and White female neuter ,
won the top awards.
As all the awards and rosettes has been given out and the Best in Show Cats had had their moments
of glory in the Best in Show pens, Eileen closed the show and exhibitors were able to start their
journey home whilst it was still daylight.
Congratulations to all our exhibitors and their lovely cats – we hope to see you again next year.
Thank you to Stall Holders for again supporting the club, your attendance is always appreciated.
Thank you to Perdiswell staff who were always on hand should their assistance be required.
Also a big thank you to MF Penning who worked tirelessly on the Friday afternoon to ensure that the
hall set-up is ready for the Saturday morning. They have the unenviable job of dismantling and
clearing up after we have all left the hall on the Saturday afternoon.
Lastly, a very big thank you to Eileen and Keith and their grand band of helpers of all their hard work.
See you all in 2015
