Bowls of Care Triumphs Again!
Fall and fun were in the air on September 25 th, pumpkins, mums, candy corn, and cornstalks
were in the house as 100 people gathered to celebrate our everyday heroes, family caregivers.
Attendees were treated to a delicious variety of soups, salads, crusty pumpkin rolls, and
delectable desserts as they were serenaded by the soothing jazz vocals of Cat Faulkner and
heartening folk music of John Schindler. Each attendee chose a beautiful hand-crafted bowl
donated by our gifted and generous team of potters. Topping off the evening was key note speaker, A.
Michael Bloom, who encouraged caregivers to take care of themselves while caring for others.
We also raffled four special baskets that committee members assembled, consisting of wonderful donated
items, basket themes included: Spa, Pottery, Wine, and Caregiver. Good spirits and generosity abounded
during the evening as a couple of the winners donated portions of their baskets back, so that more people
could win. It was a fun evening filled with delicious food, uplifting music, beautiful art, and helpful
information. More importantly, it was an evening to honor the people who give their all to provide their
loved ones with the best of care in the safety and comfort of home; they were the evening’s inspiration.
Plans are already under way for next year’s event—but thanks to all of you who attended or purchased raffle
tickets. Special thanks to our family caregiver sponsors, Age at Home and Dunbarton Family Dental. We
are also deeply grateful to our lead sponsor:
Elder Services—Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc.
