AUGUSTINE-7th Gr. John Long, Zane Cornejo, Travese Love, Kierra Sanders, Luke McComb What happens when you mix Catholic teaching, the middle school PSR classes, and Scholar's bowl? You get the PSR Catholic Quiz Bowl! There were two 6th grade, two 7th grade teams, two 8th grade, and one mixed-grade teams competing for three great charities, The Angel Tree, Catholic Charities and Birthline of Wellington. Catechist Debbie Murphy was the quiz bowl host and the teams had to buzz in with real electronic buzzers! All of the teams were named after saints including St. Rose, St. Cecilia, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, St. Patrick, St. Peter and St. Anthony. The competition was fierce during every match and all of the students showed their vast knowledge of their Catholic faith by answering questions ranging from the meaning of the word Jesus to naming the Spiritual Acts of Mercy. However, in the end the 6th grade St. Rose team came out on top and chose to give their $100 winnings to The Angel Tree. Second place went to the mixed-grade team of St. Cecilia who chose to give $50 to Catholic Charities and third place was the 7th grade team of St. Augustine who gave $25 to Birthline of Wellington. It was a good time, great competition and the best way to get middle school students to know their faith without even realizing they were actually learning! ADDITIONAL TEAMS ST. JEROME-6th Gr.
