Organization (INTERPOL)
Police
It is the world’s largest international police
organization, with 190 member countries.
General Secretariat in Lyon, France, with six
regional bureaus, one Special Representative
of INTERPOL to the United Nations (New York)
and one to the European Union (Brussels).
Four official languages :
Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
A National Central Bureau (N.C.B.) in each member country.
A century of history
1914 – First International Criminal Police Congress held in Monaco;
23 countries in attendance
1923 – Creation of International Police Commission, Vienna
1946 – The organization was rebuilt after WWII and based in Paris;
The notice system was created and first Red Notices issued.
1956 – Renamed International Criminal Police Organization - INTERPOL
2004 – Representative office opened at the UN in New York
2008 – Representative office opened at the European Union in Brussels
2011 – Opening of CCC in Buenos Aires.
2014 – IGC Singapore and 100 Years Anniversary November ’14, Monaco
