As a new student to the College, you will receive a
programme of induction. The nature and duration
of the induction provided will be related to your
needs.

regular timetabled group tutorial sessions as well

Personal Academic Tutor on an individual basis.
Student Advisers/Personal Academic Tutors offer
guidance and support throughout the duration of
the course, they are the first person to turn to if you
are experiencing academic or personal problems
and together the student and Student Adviser/
Personal Academic Tutor can seek appropriate
solutions.

How do you get an Individual Learning Account?
To check if you are eligible for an ILA, request an
Application Pack or renew an existing ILA, telephone
the ILA helpline on 0800 917 8000.
You can also check your eligibility and apply online at

Student Services can help you with Student Finance, Student Guidance, accessing
the College Counselling Service and ‘The Career Zone’ - a hive of activity for students
wishing to access information on a wide range of topics.
Other than the Christmas and New Year holiday period Student Services is open
to deal with any questions you might have about your study options, places still
available on courses, and any advice you might need about the funding of your
studies.

It normally takes about 4 weeks for applications to be
processed so if you would like to use your account to
help pay for a course starting in January 2015 then
you should apply for it now.
You can use your ILA to help with the course fees
of those Moray College UHI courses within this
supplement marked (ILA). However you must have
your ILA in place before you commence a course – we
cannot adjust fees for the ILA scheme after you have
started a course.

Whisky Course (NR) (Over 18’s only)
The Whisky Course will provide a grounding in the history of whisky making, the production process
and marketing of the product and will develop skills in nosing and tasting. In particular, it will focus
on developing an appreciation of the general characteristics of the different styles and types of
Scotch whisky.
The course will be especially relevant to those who work in the Scotch whisky, hospitality, leisure &
tourism and retail industries, but it is available to anyone BHFEPWFS with an interest in whisky.
This is an online course, (approximately 20 hours of study) and includes a series of miniatures for
nosing and tasting. Leads to a Moray College UHI/Gordon & MacPhail Certificate.
The cost of the course is £195 including delivery within the UK. For any other country, please

HEARTSTART COURSES
Moray College UHI Child, Health and Social Care (Level 5) students are involved in a joint
working community project with the NHS and the British Heart Foundation.
The students offer FREE 3 hour Emergency Life Support training to community clubs.

CATERING
AT MORAY COLLEGE UHI
Moray College UHI offers a range of catering services (Monday Friday) including:
The Refectory open daily at 8.30am, available at the main College
campus and the Technology Centre.
The Aye Pod Café, a comfortable common room with café facilities,
open from 10am - 4pm Monday to Thursday and 10am - 2pm
Friday. Food available includes soup of the day, sandwiches, toasted
sandwiches, Paninis etc. The Aye Pod has full Wi-Fi access and
computers for students to log on and use at their leisure. Vending
machines are available in the Aye Pod, the café area of the Alexander
Graham Bell Centre for Digital Health and at the Technology
Centre.
The Beechtree Restaurant offers a range of dishes and snacks,
speciality coffees, teas and homebakes from 10am. Bistro Lunch
is served every day between 12 noon and 1.30pm, with a choice
of freshly prepared hot and
cold sandwiches, soups,
salads, main courses and
desserts. A fine dining menu
is also offered at lunchtime,
and on a Thursday evening.
The Restaurant can also be
booked for private functions,
buffets and dinners, and can
cater for up to 120 guests.

ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL CENTRE FOR DIGITAL HEALTH
The £6.5 million Alexander Graham Bell Centre for Digital Health is a centre for excellence in Digital Health and Life Science for the North of
Scotland and beyond providing facilities for, and expertise in life science research, and education. The building will be permanently occupied
by NHS Grampian and Moray College UHI with 5 research and commercialisation rooms available for lease by companies looking to establish
themselves in the field of digital health or life science or companies looking for opportunities for business growth.
The centre also offers a range of quality facilities for conferences and events including:
an exceptional high quality, light and spacious modern DPOGFSFODF SPPN, which
can accommodate up to 190 delegates with state-of-the-art AV equipment, video
conferencing and access to the internet. Smaller rooms for workshops and smaller
meetings can also be provided;
a MFDUVSFUIFBUSF with AV equipment and video conferencing which can accommodate
up to 50 delegates. The seating can be removed to create an additional versatile
space;
a light and spacious DBGÏBSFB for informal meetings and refreshments;
a spectacular spacious reception area, at 3 levels which can be used for smaller events
and exhibitions;
a range of DMBTTSPPNT and WJEFPDPOGFSFODJOH facilities on the first floor.
Catering packages from the Hospitality and Tourism Academy at Moray College UHI
can also be included as part of your overall event package.

You should register with Skills Development Scotland at least 4
weeks before the start date of the course. When booking your
place on a course, you must give your ILA Number to college staff.
Skills Development Scotland will then send you your learning
token, which you must present when you enrol.
Course Fees
The course fees listed are those chargeable for applicants who qualify
as UK or EU residents. Applicants who do not meet this criterion
should contact Moray College UHI Student Finance. Course fees are
not automatically refundable, except in special circumstances and
at the College’s discretion. Refunds will be made automatically only
if the course you have paid for is full or does not run as advertised.
For information on course fees and financial support that may be
available to help with your studies, eg. Childcare, please contact
Moray College UHI Student Finance.
We cannot adjust fees for the ILA scheme
after you have started the course.
Part-time Fee Grant
As from 1 April 2011, a new Part-time Fee Grant from the Student
Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) replaced what was previously

Part-time Fee Waiver (Further Education courses only)
Recipients of certain benefits may qualify for exemption from
payment of fees for certain part-time courses. If you wish to apply,
