PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Cabot Norit Activated Carbon’s PURIT products deliver superior filtration, decolorization and removal of objectionable taste and odor compounds from sugar syrups.
These multifunctional products allow purification processes to significantly reduce
the frequency of changeouts and achieve better quality effluent than traditional
treatment methods.
The balance between filterability and decolorization is critical to performance. Table 1
demonstrates results from color removal and pressure drop testing of a competitive
multimedia product compared to Cabot’s PURIT multifunctional product. When
evaluated under controlled conditions to eliminate variability from incoming raw
material, these laboratory test results show Cabot’s multifunctional product
achieved superior color removal and minimal pressure drop levels.

Table 2 highlights the results from a full scale test comparing a competitive
multimedia product to the PURIT™ multimedia product. The PURIT product extended
cycle times from six to 11 hours while meeting finished color targets.
