EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Eucharistic Adoration Adorers are
needed. Eucharistic Adoration is
offered in the Chapel at Holy Name
Cathedral on the First and Third
Fridays of every month. Adoration
begins after the 8:00 A.M. Mass and
ends with Benediction after the 5:15PM
Mass. During the time of adoration, the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the
Rosary will be prayed at 3:00PM for
the increased respect and protection of

The Cathedral Filipino Network invites you to our
annual Simbang Gabi celebration on Monday,
December 15 at 7pm in the Cathedral.
Simbang Gabi literally means “Mass in the Dark”,
traditionally taking place at dawn before the cock
crows. There are two symbols associated with
Simbang Gabi. The Belen is the nativity set
introduced by St. Francis Assisi in 1223. The Belen is
found in churches and affluent homes; however the
Parol is everywhere.
The Parol is a lantern, representing the Star of
Bethlehem. It is set in the windows to serve as a
guiding light, and a sign for Mary, Joseph and Jesus
that they are welcome in this home.
Our pastor will be our presider and homilist.
Our Cathedral Filipino Singers will lead us in song.
Also, a reception will follow in the cafeteria.

on the Sundays of Advent. Join the cathedral liturgy staﬀ for vespers to pray, hear beau ful choral
music, sing, and reflect on the experience of Advent in vibrant images and contempla on. The
choral repertoire includes music by Rossi, Richard Proulx, Hallock, Byrd, Craig Phillips, Handl and
Ramirez.
Each Sunday’s vespers is preceded by Advent Organ Concerts featuring area ar sts at 3:30 pm.

hold its regular second Thursday of the month meeting on
December 11 beginning at 6:30pm in our Parish
Center. Our presenters always provide very useful advice
for job seekers and career changers, and our meetings are
enjoyable, interactive and informative. Refer to upcoming
bulletins for additional details regarding our December 11
meeting.
The Career Fulfillment Community is intended as a forum,
not only for those seeking employment, but as a sustaining,
faith-based network where anyone seeking to mentor,
coach or share their job/career/vocational knowledge can
help those seeking assistance.

dishware. Your collective response to that appeal was
16 sets (4 table settings of four). They were all shared,
some to parishioners and others to House of Good
Shepherd who help families with domestic violence
start a new household. As one parishioner said, “I have
never had a matching set of four for 4 people in my
entire life!”
So if you have any extra not-to-be-used green stamps
throughout these next few months, please consider
dropping them off in the collection or at the rectory to

The Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human
Development (CCHD) provides funding for groups that
make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United
States. CCHD grants improve education, support economic
development, and help communities provide housing in low
-income neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human
dignity and aid those living on the margins of society.

The Human Concerns Commission

Young Adult Christmas Party. This year's party will be
held at SHAY (222 W. Ontario St.) in their semiprivate front bar on Saturday, December 6th at 7:00
p.m. Tickets are $25 until the end of November and
then $30 the week of the event and at the door
(available until we sell out). Your ticket price includes
admission, hors d'oeuvres, and a donation to Catholic Charities. All fees are

The Rosary: prayed each Monday (including the Divine Mercy

SACRAMENTAL CELEBRATIONS
Baptism: Infant baptisms are generally celebrated twice monthly
on designated Sundays at 2:00 pm. Parents are asked to
participate in a one time pre-baptismal preparation class. Check
the website (holynamecathedral.org) for dates and to preregister for the class and baptism.
*Classes are limited to a total of 20 people, so reserve early.
Baptism of children over age 6 is conducted through our Religious
Education Program. Contact Thomas L. Aspell at (312)573-4478
to enroll your child. Adult baptism takes place through the RCIA
process. Contact Kelly Heus at (312)573-4434 to learn more
about RCIA.
Marriage: Congratulations on your engagement! Due to the size of
our parish, weddings are celebrated for registered parishioners
only. A minimum of six months advanced planning and
preparation is required. Please consult our website

Confessions
Saturdays: 3:00 - 5:00pm, 6:15 - 7:15pm
All Confessions are held in the Reconciliation room on the Lower
Level of the Cathedral.
Eucharistic Adoration: 1st & 3rd Fridays, Adoration after the 8am
Mass. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Rosary will be
prayed at 3:00pm on behalf increased respect for human life.
Benediction after the 5:15pm Mass in the Chapel. Tuesdays and
Thursdays 8am-5pm at the Vincent DePaul Center 721 N. LaSalle
Street.

The tables at the doors of the cathedral have been designated
for displaying parish information only. There is no space for other
brochures, flyers, newspapers, prayer cards and devotional
materials. Non-parish materials are removed daily. Your
cooperation is appreciated.
