The organization and work of our parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society continues to fulfill this goal in a clear and strong way. Their work and our generous support help to insure that we remain a vibrant parish in this community. Their annual report below gives an account of the work of the past two years in the communities we are here to serve. For the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2014, Food Pantry Assistance was given to 2,255 persons, an increase of 143 people (6.8%) over the previous year (2,112). Utility Assistance was pr ovided for 1,320 per sons, an incr ease of 92 households (7.5%) from 1,228. Overall this past year Total Assistance increased by 7.0% from 3,340 clients served to 3,575. I encourage everyone to join us for Mass on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00 am. We must thank God together for how blessed we are. Gratitude always gives birth to generosity, and there is much work yet to be accomplished. ANNUAL REPORT—ST. Have you heard that incidences of flu are at an all time high this year? Did you forget to get your flu shot? Do you know if you should get one? It is not too late to receive a flu shot. Many of the local pharmacies are continuing to have them available. The latest recommendation is that anyone over the age of 6 months SHOULD get a flu shot. What if it just is not possible to get a flu shot? Here are some other things that can be done to keep you from getting it. • Eat healthy foods • Exercise regularly • Get adequate sleep • Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes or mouth. If you think you have the flu , please do not go to work, school or shopping. Stay at home, stay in bed, and rest. Stay healthy and remember to spend a few minutes each day sitting quietly and preparing for the Christ Child. Peace, November 23, 2014 PRAYER CHAIN If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please call either Betty Kondracki @ 868-0176 or Pat Edgar @ 868-4143 Please pray for the repose of the souls of all who have died this week.
