His research interest is the immune system in atherosclerosis, rheumatic diseases and other diseases with inflammatory background. Frostegårds research aims to develop novel diagnostic methods and treatment against these diseases and leads the European consortium CVDIMMUNE to develop a vaccine against atherosclerosis. Frostegård is an active inventor and has several patents and is a founder of several biotech companies. He is also the author of several novels and popular scientific books like “Reumatism”, “Nästan allt om människan: Evolutionen, generna, moralen och lite till” and “Salomos vikarie”.
