Flying Fifteens, on Lowestoft seafront, has been given an award of excellence by the Tea Guild for its perfectly prepared brews. The shop is the only tea room in Norfolk and Suffolk to win one of the coveted certificates, which are given after secret visits by professional tea tasters and are held by Claridges, The Ritz and Bettys of Harrogate. Owner Diana Knight said she is very proud to have been given the award for the last seven years. She opened the TOP AWARD: The Flying Fifteens tea rooms in Lowestoft is owned and run by Diana Knight. tea room in 1996 with no catering experience and now visitors come from far and wide to sample the selection of more than 50 different types of tea and infusion as well as homemade cakes, scones and meringues. She said: “It is the attention to small details, such as the particular type of cheese we use for our cheese on toast and the carefully blended teas, which makes people want to come back. IP27 0EW Tel. 01842 810534 By ED FOSS Coastal dwellers from across the country were among those who gathered in Happisburgh at the weekend to mark the 10th birthday of a leading lobby group and to thank the people of the Norfolk clifftop village for their years of support. An evening meeting was held in St Mary’s church on Friday to formally celebrate the Coastal Concern Action Group’s decade of operation, followed by various events through the weekend. The actual date of the anniversary fell last month. Speakers included local representatives such as Happisburgh tea shop and homeowner Di Wrightson, North Norfolk District Council’s coast protection engineer Brian Farrow, Happisburgh district councillor Clive Stockton and north Norfolk MP Norman Lamb. But some of the most striking words came from those who had travelled to Norfolk from afar, Lively evening of great music and reflection This celebration of life and love in words and music, presented in a review-style show, launched the West Acre summer season. The musical interludes were equally wide-ranging with Eileanora (keyboard and vocals) leading the trio in numbers such as Making Whoopee and Danny Boy. With some hot boogie-woogie and cool guitar and bass playing the music complemented the readings to add to West Acre’s burgeoning repertoire.
