Mrs Correne Brown - Nursery Manager
Nestlings (3 months - 2 years) Daily Routine
Time
Hello, I’m Correne Brown and I am the manager of
the new Nursery School at Queen Elizabeth’s. I
have previously been the manager of Busy Bears
Nursery and the Westholme nursery in Blackburn. I
have a wealth of knowledge and a great deal of
experience working with children and parents, as
well as managing staff, which I have built up over
my 26 year career.
I began my career as a children’s nanny working
with private families in the Wilpshire area of
Blackburn. In 1996 I joined Blackburn with Darwen
Council to set up a Mobile Toy library service
working directly with members of the public and
managing a team of 12 staff. Following that I
worked for children’s services at the sure start
centre, particularly in the 2-3 room and pre-school.
More recently I have completed my ECDL in
computing and my ILM in leadership and
management. I am thrilled to be part of Queen
Elizabeth’s and look forward to sharing my
knowledge with children and staff.

This room is a large spacious environment covering all areas of learning.
Our experienced high quality care continues in this pre-school year,
where we expertly guide your child through the wonders of learning,
helping them to adapt to a range of different activities in a more
structured environment.
Led by a fully qualified teacher working to the EYFS, learning in
pre-school year is enjoyable and rewarding with a good balance of
child-initiated play and adult led activities.
Boys and girls are accepted into the Reception at any time after their
fourth birthday and our dedicated staff understand the needs of the
young and encourage them on their journey. We are committed to
combining excellence in teaching with enjoyment in learning.
Learning in Reception is focused on your child’s needs and abilities.
We carefully nurture self-esteem with high aspirations and increasing
independence in order to develop confident learners; this provides an
excellent basis for progression to the Junior school.
Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their
experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong
partnership between practitioners, parents and carers.
Throughout their time with us, children are encouraged to find learning
fun and their achievements and developments are recognised to develop
the children's confidence and self-esteem.
