I have previously been the manager of Busy Bears Nursery and the Westholme nursery in Blackburn. I have a wealth of knowledge and a great deal of experience working with children and parents, as well as managing staff, which I have built up over my 26 year career. I began my career as a children’s nanny working with private families in the Wilpshire area of Blackburn. In 1996 I joined Blackburn with Darwen Council to set up a Mobile Toy library service working directly with members of the public and managing a team of 12 staff. Following that I worked for children’s services at the sure start centre, particularly in the 2-3 room and pre-school. More recently I have completed my ECDL in computing and my ILM in leadership and management. Children will also have access to our swimming pool facilities on site. School Menu Children will be offered a nutritious well balanced meal from a range of foods from around the world. Age appropriate children will be encouraged to serve themselves at meal times and to sit at the dining table appropriately. Children’s individual food requirements will be met. It is a language using speech, signs and symbols. It adds simple signs to spoken language and has been shown to help understanding, develop speech, language skills and literacy. Makaton is a cross cultural system and supports a range of learning styles. Daily Routines Planned and free play activities which cover all areas of learning will flow throughout the morning and afternoon sessions. Your child will be encouraged to develop their skills of decision making by allowing them to decide which activities to join in and for how long they wish to be involved, before moving on. Children are encouraged to explore the activities and lead their play allowing them to develop and extend play to suit their individual development stage. Children are comforted and supported in their individual needs and given praise and encouragement to explore their environment. Babies will be cared for on an individual basis, but will also be encouraged to join in activities which will be centered on their developmental needs and abilities. Fledglings (2—3 years) The room caters for children from the age of 2-3 years. Our caring home from home atmosphere continues here with a modern bright spacious area for young children to explore. Our experienced high quality care continues in this pre-school year, where we expertly guide your child through the wonders of learning, helping them to adapt to a range of different activities in a more structured environment.
