The Painted Turtle
The Painted Turtle is a year-round camp that provides a haven for children with
chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Through unique, medically safe, camp-based
programs, The Painted Turtle provides activities and experiences of empowerment
and self-discovery to children who have been denied their childhoods. The Painted
Turtle mission is to continue Paul Newman’s dream of helping as many children as
possible recapture the joy of just being a kid. All children and their families attend
The Painted Turtle free of charge. In partnership with UCSF Benioff Children’s
Hospital, The Painted Turtle’s Hospital Outreach Program brings the spirit of camp
throughout the year to children in the Bay Area who are too sick to attend camp.
