Peak Performer’s and Friends Weekly Email November 28, 2014 Black Friday, Cyber Monday and everything in between...the race to get all of the deals available to keep money in your wallet!! **ANNOUNCEMENTS** Message from Parry Grover Linda and I are planning ahead for the runner's annual open house, potluck and movie extravaganza at our home on January 1, 2015. Please save the day. Of course, we need help in selecting a movie theme that is likely to interest the most attendees. Since children are welcome on January 1, that limits certain movies. The movie themes suggested so far are:    Any Tom Hanks movie (e.g., Captain Phillips, Forest Gump and many more) Movies about "trips" (e.g., Around the World in 80 Days, The Motorcycle Diaries) Movies about "music" or that include good music (e.g., 20 Feet from Stardom, Muscle Shoals, The Commitments) Can you think of other, possibly better movie themes? Past movie themes included: any movie about runners, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, and the Fondas (Henry, Jane or Peter). I would like to select the potentially best three or four themes, and then circulate that list for consensus votes to identify the most popular theme. Please remember that this process may be corrupt. I am not immune to bribes - especially carrot cake or French fries (i.e., if well financed interest groups can buy elections, then why not buy me too?!). Thanks, Parry 276-8982 Weekend Group Runs If you are organizing a weekend group run and welcome company just email us with details by Thursday evening, preferably, but no later than 9:00am Friday morning. It would be great to mix it up a bit. **SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29th** GROUP RUNS Earthquake Park – Anchorage Meet at the Earthquake Park parking lot at 8:00 am. Out and back on the Coastal Trail. Choose your distance. Coffee afterwards. Happy Fun Group - Anchorage The Happy Fun Group will meet each Saturday during November in the parking lot for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. The lot can be access either from Elmore Road or Ambassador Drive. Ambassador is one block north of the Tudor Road and Elmore Road intersection. We will meet at 9:00 AM, we go out for a half-hour then turn around and run back. We usually go to breakfast afterward for those interested. Happy Fun Group is a diverse group so you usually can find someone that runs or walks at the same pace you do. RACES/EVENTS There does not appear to be any races this week but there are a lot of ways to work off those extra Thanksgiving Day calories consumed! **EVERY TUESDAY** McGinley’s 5K PUB RUN – Anchorage Location: 645 G Street, Ste 101 – This event is every Tuesday - 1st Group runs at 5:30 and 2nd Group starts at 6:00 – Register for free at Skinny Raven Sports starting at 5:15. Many prizes to give away with a different vendor every week – another way to kick the mid-work week blues! **EVERY WEDNESDAY** Run or Walk with Friends” – Anchorage Meet 6pm – Westchester Lagoon – Meet Wednesdays throughout the year. Walk or run with friends for 1 hour on the Coastal Trail.
