An Invitation for an Encounter with Jesus Christ A Catechesis for St. Mary’s and St. Hedwig’s parishioners; for adults and young people (13 years and older). The Catechesis is an experience of the Christian Journey to uncover the true meaning of our Baptism. Meetings are continuing Mondays and Thursdays at 8PM at St. Hedwig Church Hall. We can ask ourselves: Who is Jesus Christ for me? Can He make a difference in my life? What does it mean to be a Christian? Come and Listen! The Neocatechumenal Way Come and shop with us! The annual St. Francis- St. Hedwig School Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sunday, December 7th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in the St. Francis of Assisi Church Hall at 318 Church St, Naugatuck. We will have vendors, crafters, raffles (including our famous Lottery Tree, which has over $100 worth of tickets), yummy food, and a visit from Santa. St. Hedwig Giving Tree Our annual giving tree is up or will be up next weekend. Take a tag and buy clothes for what the tag says, boy or girl, and the size. Please wrap your gifts and put them under the Christmas tree by December 14. All gifts are delivered to Naugatuck Youth Services so they stay local. Every year we get big thank yous for the generosity of our parish, so please join in! The Annual Christmas Festival Weekend at the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield will include: Saturday, December 6th: Gingerbread Nativity Making will occur from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in Pilgrim Hall. Reservations for this family activity can be made now by calling 860-567-1041. The Candlelight Carol Sing will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Pilgrim Hall and process to the Grotto. Cookies & hot chocolate will be served in the hall after this beautiful holy event. Sunday, December 7th: The Living Nativity: A re-enactment of the Nativity with live animals, little angels, shepherds, choristers and a real Baby Jesus will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Grotto. Cookies & hot chocolate will again be served in Pilgrim Hall. A suggested $5.00 donation will be greatly appreciated. Note: The Grotto Gift Shop will be open for all these events. St. Hedwig Church is responsible for providing volunteers at the Ecumenical Food Bank during the month of December. You may begin taking an ornament and purchasing an item for a child in need. Chalice Program Schedules The new schedules are ready to be picked up in the sacristy for all who participate in the chalice program. This schedule runs from January-June 2015. LADIES GUILD There will be no Ladies Guild meeting in December. The next meeting will be held on March 3rd 2015. There will be no meetings in January & February due to the uncertain weather. The Christmas Luncheon of the Ladies Guild will be held on Sunday, December 7th at 1:00pm at the Imperial Buffet on Straits Turnpike in Watertown. The price is $15.00 tax & tip included. UPCOMING EVENTS: Saturday December 6th Christmas Fair We are looking for new raffle items for our raffle table. Please think of contributing something to the booth. It would be appreciated. Don’t forget to attend the Christmas Fair next Saturday from 9am-6pm in the church hall. The fair booths consist of Grandma’s Attic where you will find treasures, jewelry booth with many kinds of jewelry, Christmas Charisma, where you will find many Christmas items, Sweet Treats, delicious home baked goods, Raffle table where you can take a chance to win something special and the food booth where you will find mouthwatering delicious food. Don’t forget we are now offering a breakfast sandwich for the early birds. So stop down and enjoy the fair and remember that you will be helping the Ladies raise money for the church. The Ladies are looking for men & women to bake for our Sweet Treats booth at the Holiday Fair. On Saturday December 20th & Sunday December 21st Cookie Walk will be held. As you all know that when we hold our cookie walk we sell out. This year we are trying something different by selling the cookies earlier in the day and we are hoping all who would buy on Sunday will consider purchasing their cookies on Saturday. We feel bad when Sunday rolls around and there are not enough cookies left over for the 8:00am Mass. We are also in need of parishioners to bake cookies. If you have a favorite one that your family enjoys please consider making it and adding it to the cookie walk.
