PERMIT #41
This is the 37th year for the City of Kennesaw Police Department to help the less
fortunate families in the Kennesaw and Acworth area. Last year, 2013, the Kennesaw Police
Department was able to help seventy four (74) families to including two hundred and five
(205) children.
Donations of money, food, or new toys would be greatly appreciated. The drop off
location for toys and food is the Kennesaw City Jail. Monetary donations can be brought
to the Kennesaw Police Department, Monday – Friday 8:00a.m until 6:00 p.m. or mailed
to Kennesaw Police Department, Attn: Officer Scott Luther, 2539 J.O. Stephenson Ave.,
Kennesaw GA. 30144. Please make checks payable to the Jerry Worthan Memorial Christmas
Fund. The deadline for donations will be December 20th. Regular updates will be posted at
the Kennesaw Police facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/KennPD?v=wall
This year the food will be collected for the Shiloh United Methodist Church food
pantry. 2014 Board members are Chief Bill Westenberger, Deputy Chief Barbara Tolbert,
Officer Scott Luther - C.O.P.S. Director/Treasurer, Bobbie Duke - 911 Director/Secretary,
and honorary members Dianne Worthan (Jerry Worthans widow) and Wendy Cunningham
(Jerry Worthans daughter).
We are working with Greg Carter at California Dreaming again this year. Santa will be
visiting California Dreaming on December 18. Toy donation boxes are up at our community
business partners. (California Dreaming Main Street Pharmacy). Pictured above: Captain

Chief Barbara Tolbert
THE BRIGHT SIDE THANKS
YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
What a fun way to get in the Christmas Spirit -- California Dreaming, 745 Chastain Rd
in Kennesaw has invited Santa to visit on Thursday, December 18 from 6-9 and you and
your family are invited to come have dinner with Santa. Plan on visiting Santa at California
Dreaming, where he will take the time to listen to all the kids wishes and pose for photos.
Stay for dinner and make this an extra special night for the family.
Greg Carter, owner operator, is an involved member of the community and advises that
one way California Dreaming is giving back this Christmas is by collecting toys for the Jerry
Worthan Memorial Christmas Fund sponsored by the Kennesaw Police Department. Greg
states they have collection boxes in the front of the restaurant and will be collecting toys
from now through December 18. -- Last year California Dreaming collected over seven huge
boxes of toys, many coming from the East Cobb Lions Club and students from Kennesaw
Mountain High School, both of which make a significant contribution to our toy drive every
year as does Piedmont Church.
When you donate a toy you will receive a card good for a FREE basket of Croissants.
The evening with Santa includes: Free Pictures with Santa! Face Painting! Meet Kennesaw’s
Police Chief Bill Westenberger! Live Holiday Music! Free Treats for the Kids!Make your
own S’mores!

CHAIRMAN’S CORNER
By Chairman Tim Lee,
Cobb County Cobb
development
by another
name is
expansion
A good customer
service rep is one who
says, “We know you
had other choices,
and we’re glad that
you chose to do
business with us.” In Cobb County, we’re
getting the chance to say that quite a bit as
we see our plans for long-term economic
expansion working.
Notice I didn’t say “economic
development,” which typically focuses
largely on the quantity of new-business
contributions to a region’s economy. I mean
expansion, where you also focus on the quality
of growth.
In September, I told the Council for
Quality Growth that we need to shift
our way of thinking from exclusively
economic development to that of expanding
opportunities. I define it as creating the kind
of jobs that will attract today’s youth who are
getting their education now so they won’t see
the need to move out of Cobb County when
they start their careers.
Local students graduating from area
technical colleges might be intrigued, for
example, with opportunities at companies
such as Greenway Health, a Carrollton-based
company that just announced a new office
here for software development.
Greenway is starting in Cobb with 150
new jobs that pay, on average, another 50%
more than the county’s average wage.
Other options might include
companies like the German metalcomponents manufacturer, citim AM, who
is investing $9 million in its move next year
to Kennesaw. Or Vonage, the phone company
that in July announced plans to move into the
Cumberland area from Atlanta.
Most recently, Genuine Parts announced
it would accelerate the consolidation of its
corporate headquarters with another of its
facilities, which is located just across I-75
at Wildwood Office Park. The 1.7-mile
move could have, instead, been to another
county or state, but Genuine Parts cited a
wonderful relationship with Cobb County
and an eagerness to stay here and plan for the
company’s own expected growth.
We’re excited about all this expansion,
and hope that you’ll latch onto that word when
you tell people you know about all the great
things happening in Cobb County.

ALTERNATIVES TO
LASIK
Sun Protection Tips
BY dr mark heSter, hester
eye associates
We have all heard about Lasik by now.
It is a great procedure for nearsightedness,
farsightedness and astigmatism. However, it
is not without limitations. For patients who
have a high prescription or some other reason
why Lasik is not a viable option, I ask you to
consider clear lens exchange or intraocular
contact lenses.
First, clear lens exchange is exactly
the same as modern cataract surgery. The
natural crystalline lens is removed from the
eye and replaced with an implant. With a
skilled surgeon, the procedure usually takes
less than ten minutes to perform and the
visual outcomes rival that of Lasik. Even
people who may have or developing cataracts
also have the options for vision correction.
Nearly everyone will develop cataract and
with modern procedures, the dependency for
glasses and contact lenses can be reduces.
After the cataract surgery, generally the vision
is much clearer, the colors much more vibrant
and the dependency on glasses reduced.
Still a newer type of vision correction
is the intraocular contact lens. This is an
implant that is placed inside the eye near the
natural human lens. It is a great alternative
to Lasik because the higher corrections can
be achieved and therefore more people can
benefit from vision correction procedures.
Although it is not widely accepted yet you will
be hearing much more about this procedure
in the near future.
If you are interested in vision correction
or have questions regarding cataract or
cataract surgery, please feel free to contact
our office at 770-590-8191.

School's Out Camp

Planning a beach vacation this winter?
Travelers should be aware that ultraviolet
(UV) radiation from the sun plays a significant
role in the development of skin cancer. In fact,
about 86 percent of melanomas and 90 percent
of non-melanoma skin cancers are associated
with exposure to its UV rays.
Skin cancer risk depends greatly on
cumulative lifetime sun exposure, but
melanoma has been linked most frequently
to intense exposure - The kind often obtained
during beach vacations. This kind of periodic,
concentrated UV exposure frequently causes
sunburn and severely damages the skin. It
is believed to also play a part in basal cell
carcinoma (BCC), the most common form of
skin cancer. On average, a person's risk for
melanoma doubles if he or she has had more
than five sunburns.

toe, foot or leg amputations.
People with diabetes are 10 times more
likely to have a lower limb amputated than
people without diabetes, according to the
American Diabetes Association. Dr. Brody
says the disease can cause poor blood
circulation and nerve damage in the feet,
making them vulnerable to developing ulcers,
infections, deformities and brittle bones.
The ACFAS consumer Web site
FootHealthFacts.org provides these foot
care tips for people with diabetes:
•Inspect feet daily for injuries that could
lead to dangerous ulcers.
•Gently wash feet in lukewarm (not
hot!) water.
•Moisturize feet, avoiding the area
between the toes.
•Never trim corns or calluses; this can
lead to serious infections.
•Inspect the inside of shoes before
wearing.
People with diabetes must always be
vigilant, says Dr. Brody, and see a foot and
ankle surgeon at the first sign of trouble. Early
treatment can keep diabetic foot problems
from progressing, and reduce the risk of
amputations.

Preventing
Christmas Tree
Fires:
When buying a live tree, look for one
that is not shedding needles. If needles fall
off or branches snap when bent, the tree is
already too dry.
Keep trees watered. A mixture of lemonlime soda and water will keep a tree moist
longer.
Keep trees away from all heat sources
including fire places, stoves and room/
space heaters Please do not use candles on a
Christmas tree.
When purchasing an artificial tree, look
for the label “Fire Resistant”.
Secure the tree firmly in tree stand to
keep it from toppling over.
When tree becomes dry, promptly discard
it. Please consider using the IVGID Waste
Not Free Holiday Tree Recycling Program.
This service will be available December
24th through January 25, 2012. For more
information on this program, please call

What’s the Big Deal?
DR CRIS EATON WELSH
A sore throat is a small thing. It could be
a sign that you’ve exhausted your immune
system.
An upset stomach is a small thing. It may
be a symptom of producing too much (or too
little) stomach acid. Or eating foods that you
know aren’t going to “agree” with you.
Back pain is a small thing. It might be
how your body reminds you that change is
needed. A change in the way you move or
think. Or perhaps a change in how you deal
with stress.
Subluxation is a big thing. When your
brain loses touch with part of your body and
can’t regulate it, that’s big. Impaired nerve
communication is a big problem. Even if the
symptom you notice is small, the fact that
your brain’s communications to your body are
getting misdirected is a serious issue.
An adjustment is a big thing. A precisely
applied energy that helps restore nervous system
integrity is big. Really big. Knowing where and
how to apply this energy takes a big commitment
of education, expertise and experience.
Chiropractic is a BIG thing. Maybe one of
the biggest secrets in health care!
After all, it can restore nervous system
function, which is what controls every other aspect
of your body’s ability to function. Chiropractic has
faced big opposition by those who don’t understand
it, and by those who would like to keep it a secret,
like the mainstream medical community. You could
play a big role by sharing your experience with
others. That would be a big help! So who do you
know who needs to be here.
Whole Health Integration at Eaton Chiropractic
focuses our practice on the little things that make a
BIG difference: the Five Pillars of Health. Water,
Nutrition, Exercise, Community and a Properly
Functioning Nervous System.
Check out our website and see if our way of
seeing things is right of you. You and your health
are kind of a big deal!

Becoming a
Chiropractor
Dr. Cris Eaton WelSh
I was sitting for the CPA exam, after
graduating from Kennesaw State University
with BBA in Accounting. I started taking
inventory of my life and realized that
accounting, although a great profession, was
not what I wanted to do with the rest of my
life. I looked around and realized that everyone
I knew and everything I did was connected
to chiropractic. I picked up the phone and
called my Dad and told him I was going back
to school. He was excited, he thought I was
going to go back to school and get my Masters
in Accounting. When I told him I was going
to go to Chiropractic School, he dropped the
phone. After he picked the phone back up he
asked me why. I told him that everyone I knew
and everything I did kept leading me back
to Chiropractic and that I had never seen my
parents happier than while in their practice!
The rest is history!

Menorah Lighting Ceremony
The City of Acworth invites everyone to its third annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony
on Tuesday, December 17, the second night of Hanukkah, at 6:00 p.m. The Menorah is located at the corner of Cowan Road and Main Street in Downtown
Acworth. Rabbi Zalman Charytan from the Chabad Jewish Center will officiate the lighting
with Mayor Tommy Allegood assisting. The eight day Jewish holiday commemorates the Jewish Maccabees’ military victory
over Syrian-Greek oppression more than 2,000 years ago. During Hanukkah, Jews across
the world celebrate the miracle of light that burnt for eight days out of a single-days-worth
of oil found in the Temple. One Hanukkah candle is lit the first night, December 16, and
an additional candle is lit each successive night. The holiday is a celebration of religious
freedom and hope. Homes Starting in

A buyer purchased a home which included a large rear deck built by the previous owners. After moving into
the property, the buyer is notified by a utility company that the company will be digging along the utility rightof-way to repair service lines. The owner discovers that a portion of the deck was built over the utility rightof-way, creating an encroachment. This portion of the deck must be removed to allow for the underground repair.
Knowing the difference between owner’s title insurance policies
and owning the right one can make all the difference in a situation like this.
So what’s the difference between a “standard” and an
“enhanced” title policy? Well, here is the “short and sweet”
answer. A standard title insurance policy provides protection
for title problems that occurred before the policy is issued.
The amount of insurance purchased, which is generally the
amount of the purchase price, does not change over time.
Typical title problems insured are claims of ownership,
fraud, forgery or error in the chain of title, recording errors,
lack of legal access, and open security deeds and judgments.
An enhanced policy provides broader coverage than a
standard policy, but exact coverages may vary depending
on the company issuing the policy. First, an enhanced
policy will cover certain title problems that occur after
the purchaser buys the policy, such as post-policy forgery,
encroachments onto the insured property and others. Also,
generally in enhanced policies, the amount of insurance
will increase in a fixed amount over a set time limit. This
automatic increase provides some protection if the house
rises in value. Next, enhanced policies cover particular
title problems that are not covered at all by standard
policies, i.e., lack of building permits, zoning violations,
enforcement of restrictive covenant violations, survey
matters, encroachments, mechanic’s liens, unrecorded
liens, easements or leases, pedestrian and vehicular access
and others. There are coverage limits and deductibles
for specific losses. In this case of a utility right-ofway, an enhanced title policy could cover the owner’s

Wreaths Across
America
The public is invited to Georgia National
Cemetery at Canton on December 13, 2014.
where a ceremony will be held at noon to
honor our veterans.
The ceremony will start with a minute
of silence, which will take place at the same
time at every national cemetery across the US
and on foreign land. During the ceremony,
seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed for
the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast
Guard, Merchant Marines and Prisoners of
War/Missing in Action.
Each year Wreath sponsorship has been
determined to be our biggest challenge. To
date we have very few wreaths sponsored.
We are in need of an estimated 8,700 wreaths
at the Georgia National Cemetery to be
placed at all the gravesites and to decorate
the columbarium. It is our goal to place a
wreath at every single grave and to decorate
the columbarium site.
The Patriot Guard Riders has proudly
sponsored many wreaths in the past. Each
wreath placed at a veterans headstone is a
gift, from one appreciative American family,
to another who knows what it means to serve
and sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy each
and every day.

Cobb EMC NAMED EMC OF THE YEAR
– Servant Leadership Applauded For unprecedented generosity and service to thousands of residents in five metro Atlanta
counties, Cobb EMC was recently named EMC of the Year and presented the 2014 Georgia
EMC Community Service and Volunteerism Award.
“The contributions by Cobb EMC are so numerous that it’s difficult to capture all of
them,” says Bill Verner, senior vice president of External Affairs with Georgia EMC. “But
it’s safe to say that at every level in the organization, the responsibility to serve is enormous
and contributions reach every corner of the community—whether it’s through civic, cultural,
educational, humanitarian, or public safety assistance.”
According to Verner, Cobb EMC and its employees are major contributors in the exurbs
of Atlanta and to the state as a whole, providing leadership in education, school and youth
programs, charitable giving and community support.
Cobb EMC was praised for the numerous ways in which they give: community donations,
national charities and fundraising, public safety and financial support, all of which benefit
hundreds of worthy organizations and causes. In 2014, Cobb EMC donated $365,000 in
assistance to nearly 900 families through the Cobb EMC Electric Assistance Fund, and more
than $430,000 to 100 nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in its service area through
their Operation Round Up program.
A small sample of organizations benefitting from the co-op’s donations of time and
fundraising include the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Boy Scouts of America, Cobb Library
Foundation, Down Syndrome Association, Foster Care Support Foundation, Habitat for
Humanity, MUST Ministries, Special Olympics Georgia and United Way, among numerous
others.
Nominations for EMC of the Year were reviewed by an independent panel of judges with
a solid reputation in statewide volunteer circles. Serving as judges for the second consecutive
year were Phil Smith, John Turner and Niki Knox Vanderslice with the Georgia Department
of Community Affairs.
The purpose of the Georgia EMC Community Service and Volunteerism Award is to
spotlight the outstanding efforts and initiatives of EMC management, individual directors
and employees who are working to build stronger communities.
The Marietta-based cooperative was presented the Award during Georgia EMC’s Annual
Meeting on Nov. 10 in Savannah. To commemorate the occasion, a donation in the co-op’s
name will be made to a charity of its choice.
Cobb EMC is a member owned cooperative providing electricity to more than 175,000
residential and commercial members in Cobb, Bartow, Cherokee, Fulton, and Paulding
counties.

Holiday Season -
Melissa Krudwig, “The Bear of Real Estate”
1. You may receive more money for your home now because you have less competition.
2. Your home has a warm and inviting glow during the Holidays.
3. One of the highest percentages of “Listings Sold” to “Listings Taken” occur during
this time of year. 4. Winter prospects are more serious, focused buyers.
5. Throughout the Holiday Season, you may restrict showings during your personal
family events. 6. Buyers have more time to look at homes during the Holidays, especially
during vacations.
7. January is traditionally the biggest transfer month and corporate transferees, who need
to buy a home now, can’t wait until spring. 8. The Holiday Season is a time of heightened
consumer spending. 9. When you sell during the winter, you have an opportunity to buy during the spring,
when many more homes are on the market. 10. Interest rates are still at historic lows, but
are forecast to rise in the new year. Call the The Bear of Real Estate - the Think Melissa Team TODAY if you would like

TCACID EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and
communications director STEPPING down
Lanie Shipp Hoover has worked with the Town Center Community Improvement District
since 1995, first being instrumental in coordinating the organizing group, led by Skip Spann,
then as part of the SJS Group who collected enough consent forms from commercial property
owners within the boundaries of the CID so the Improvement District could be formed. From
there she was hired as the Executive Director of the Town Center CID and has served in
that capacity until now. Mary Lou Stephens has been responsible for Communications for
the TCACID and has worked along side Lanie through out. Both Lanie Shipp Hoover and
Mary Lou Stephens are retiring from their positions with the Town Center CID at the end
of December, 2014.
In 1995, Lanie Shipp Hoover started working with the organizing group led by Skip
Spann, then general manager of Town Center Mall, Carl Black and Mason Zimmerman.
Although they never served on the board Frank Boone, Paul Chastain and Joe Daniel were
also a very important part of the organizing group. In 1997, the Cobb Board of Commissioners approved the Town Center Area Community
Improvement District as a self-taxing district to promote infrastructure improvements. The
following year, the SJS Group (Lanie Shipp, Susan Johnstone and Mary Lou Stephens)
collected enough consent forms from commercial property owners within the boundaries to
increase the CID's tax base by 30%. In Cobb County, CIDs have a 5 millage ceiling. Every six years CID property owners
vote to continue for another six years or let the tax expired. The TCACID just voted to renew
its tax for another six years to 2021, a definite vote of confidence. In the past 18 years, the
CID has invested over $30 million to receive a return of $135 million in infrastructure
improvements. among the most notable: Big Shanty Connector - $28 million, Skip Spann
Connector - $24 million and Noonday Creek - $11.5 million

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU
BY NOAH HARDEN
Although November 4 was a day off of school for Kell High Students; we decided to
do something special for our teachers. We woke up early and surprised them with numerous
thank you signs and free Chick-Fil-A gift cards!! The teacher really appreciated it and some
were even brought to tears. As a student, Noah thinks this would be a great story to publish
because it shows the good that high schoolers can do, rather than the bad. Please take this
idea into consideration because Noah thinks many people would be delighted to discover
that the news does not aways half to be about crimes or scandals, but it can also be uplifting
- and we agree. To see the video Noah created please visit: https://vimeo.com/110913791.

St. Catherine of Siena PRESCHOOL NEWS
St. Catherine of Siena Preschool in Kennesaw held its first annual art show, “Art Night
Under the Stars” in early November. The night was a huge success and the evening was
enjoyed by over 500 preschool parents, students, and their families. The art theme for
the night was author Eric Carle and the colorful illustrations found in his children books.
Each class at the preschool was assigned an Eric Carle book to spark their art inspiration.
The preschoolers had their individual art framed and hung in the reception area for all to
view as families mingled and enjoyed refreshments and snacks. Individual classrooms
were set up to showcase a second piece of art created by each age group of children using
clay, ceramic tiles and ornaments. In addition, there was a third collaborative art canvas
created by each class. These beautiful canvases were the highlight of a silent auction where
grandparents, parents and friends bid to earn bragging rights and take home a unique piece
of art. There was also interactive fun for the whole family. The children were able to draw
a family portrait to take home, decorate a keepsake box for their favorite art projects, draw
with shaving cream in a glow in the dark room, and take a picture as the Mona Lisa or other
Van Gogh art. In addition, each class performed a short musical rendition and there were
guest story book readers. All proceeds from the evening will provide tuition assistance for
preschool families.

SANDERS FAMILY
CHRISTMAS
Atlanta Lyric Theatre is proud to
announce a holiday addition to its lineup!
They’re back! The Sanctified Sanders Family
Singers return to the Marietta Square to
celebrate the holidays with faith, family, and
old-fashioned fun. Sanders Family Christmas,
starring several members of the original
Theatre in the Square cast, plays December
5-14, 2014 at First United Methodist Church
of Marietta’s Family Life Hall (56 Whitlock
Ave., Marietta).
Alan Kilpatrick who reprises his role
as Rev. Mervin Oglethorpe (who works
part-time at the local pickle plant), and the
Sanders family attempt to raise the spirits of
their faithful flock (the audience) in a rousing
and energetic Christmas gospel sing-along of
cherished holiday hymns and carols. Joining
Kilpatrick in reprising their roles are Scott
DePoy as the black sheep of the family Uncle
Stanley, Christopher Damiano as Burl Sanders
– the family’s patriarch, Karen Howell as his
scripture-quoting wife, Vera Sanders, Jeremy
Wood and Laura Floyd reuniting as the twins
Dennis and Denise Sander, and Jennifer Akin
as their sister June Sanders (she doesn’t sing,
she signs).
Conceived by Alan Bailey and written
by Connie Ray, Sanders Family Christmas
is a nostalgic comedy set to holiday carols
and is the second of three installments of the
Sanders family’s life. The original Smoke on
the Mountain, one of the most popular Theatre
in the Square productions, was produced last
year by The Lyric. These perennial revival
favorites feature bluegrass songs from the
gospel hit parade, sprinkled with the hapless
pranks of this lovable and talented family.
Tickets are $25-$40. Group discounts are
also available by calling the box office at 404377-9948. Visit www.AtlantaLyricTheatre.

SOMEONE TRUSTED THE CHURCH LAST NIGHT,
AND THE CHURCH CAME THROUGH!
Rev. Sam Storey, Columnist
On a cold, dreary December evening, several hundred people gathered at a large downtown
church in Winston-Salem to celebrate the Christmas season. Bishop Ernest
Fitzgerald, present that evening, had gone down a long hallway to help a
small boy who was pushing against massive oak doors trying to get outside.
The boy was about 2 years old and as he pushed he was crying as if his
heart would break.
The Bishop picked him up, thinking he belonged to someone at one
of the Christmas parties but as he opened the doors and looked outside
he spotted an old-model car speeding away in the darkness. Gradually, it
dawned on him that the child he held in his arms had been abandoned.
Phone calls were made, and soon the church was filled with people
wanting to help in any way they could. Within moments, the local TV stations
interrupted their usual programs to ask if anyone knew the identity of the
little boy. The next morning, one of the city's newspapers put the child's
picture on the front page. Under the picture there was an article describing
the events of the evening before. The article began with this striking line: "Someone trusted the church
last night, and the church came through!"
Bishop Fitzgerald later reflected on this event and wrote these words: It will be a long, long time
before I can forget that newspaper headline. So much of the world's future depends on the faithfulness
of the "People of God" to the "Great Commission." There is a deep hunger across our land as countless
people grope for answers to the deepest questions of the human spirit. The message of Christ speaks
to these questions, bringing hope and light to people who now stumble in the dark and live in despair.
Our world will be changed as the hearts of people are changed. Evangelism is no longer an option for
the church. It is essential to the survival of our world.
The line in that Winston-Salem newspaper is a haunting reminder of what the world expects of
the church. "Someone trusted the church last night, and the church came through!" May that always
be true!
In this Season of Advent and Christmas, let our prayer be: O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend
to us, we pray; Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels the
great glad tidings tell; O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!
(Rev. Sam A. Storey, Sr. is Senior Associate Minister, Emeritus, First United Methodist Church
of Marietta, Georgia. Email: [email protected].)

What to see / do at the Gardens in Winter:
Smith-Gilbert Gardens has gone to the birds, at least for the winter as the Gardens witness
the migratory patterns of birds traveling south for the winter. Visitors can take advantage of
this season by exploring the Conifer Collection which features small, slow growing bushes
native to the Southeastern United States and evergreen trees that stay lush throughout the
winter. Winter also brings unique blooming flowers like Camellias and Witch Hazel. Also,
don’t miss the chance to see the Bonsai Collection that houses almost sixty plants and a three
hundred year old Pond Cypress.
While the sixteen acres of landscaped gardens are quite a site, don’t forget about the
thirty sculptures that dot the property, and the historic Hiram Butler House. The house is
a crowning jewel to the modern gardens. Built in the 1880s, the house is an Italianate and
Greek Revival blend built by Hiram Butler, a revered railway man for the W&A Railroad.
The house is listed and on the National Register of Historic Places and has recently been
honored with a historic marker by the Colonial Dames XVII Century Nicholas Wallingford
Chapter. Not only will visitors get the opportunity to learn about the history of the house
and its residents, but they will get to see the house in its full splendor as it is decorated for
the Holidays.
