Eric Yerman balanced dedication to his career as a law enforcement officer with an unwavering commitment to G o d a n d h i s f a m i l y. H e enjoyed weight lifting, running and especially participating in the Annual Law Enforcement and Fire Games. It was an unexpected tragedy when Eric died during a 14-mile training run on Oct. 4, 2005. ! With a smile as big as his heart, Eric Yerman was loved by all who knew him. He lived life to the fullest and pursued his ambitions with passion and resolve. Eric and his wife Gay were supporters of the Friends of Children before his death so it seemed fitting to lend his name and legacy to the cause. Gay Yerman is a founding coordinator of the 5K. It will be the only campus of its kind in Alachua County -conceived with the vision to provide a loving environment where sibling groups can stay together. Construction of Unit 1 was completed in October 2013 but another $700,000 is needed to start and complete Unit 2. The campus will be operated by the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, which has been meeting the needs of children in crisis for more than 100 years. To date, Friends of Children has raised over $3 million dollars towards a maintenance endowment and construction. The Opportunity Will you partner with us in this exciting event?
