PEABODY COUNCIL ON AGING
CATHERINE (KAY) MORROCCO SECRETARY OF
FRIENDS AND TRIAD REPORTS: DECEMBER 2014
The month of December brings thoughts of cold and snowy weather,
but it also brings thoughts of Holidays. Some Seniors may be looking
forward to Christmas, some Seniors may be looking forward to
Hanukkah and some Seniors may be looking forward to Kwanza.
Many good wishes are extended to
all the readers for a Happy Holiday Season.
Another year is coming to a close and the Friends Board of
Directors wish to express their appreciation to each and every
Member-at-Large and every Business Member who has supported
the ‘Purpose’ of the Friends and responded to the Annual Appeal
for Funds.
All Funds received are used to enrich the lives of all Senior People
who come to the Peter A Torigian Senior Center seeking Social
Services and the Programs, or the Classes, or to Socialize with people.
We look forward to the day when everyone who comes to the Senior
Center is a ‘Friend’ of the Peabody Council on Aging.
A monthly newsletter ‘Tips & Topics’ is mailed to every ‘Friend’.
It is filled with PCOA Social Service information and PCOA Bus
Service Information. (On Page 10, programs and activities are listed on
our monthly calendar, Monday through Friday each week of the month
with the starting hour.)
There is additional information concerning Health Insurance, Fuel
Assistance, the SNAP Program and Subsidized Housing as well as
upcoming Day Trips.



FYI: 2000 copies of Tips & Topics are mailed out each month.
Others are picked up at the Reception Desk.
At the September quarterly meeting, Director of the
PCOA Carolyn Wynn requested funds for the following:
To install air-condition in the Trask Day Health Program Nurse
Station and Treatment Room.
For expenses incurred extending Social Services within the
Outreach Department.
To replace two well used Treadmills in the Fitness Room enjoyed
by hundreds of Senior People.
Funds from the Annual Appeal were also used for expenses incurred
for the successful ‘Indoor Fun /Play Day’ enjoyed by more than three
hundred (300) Seniors on October 6, 2014, as well as for the
Volunteers’ Appreciation Day Luncheon with Entertainment held at the
Danversport Yacht Club.
For the “Young at Heart” Seniors,
A Holiday Poem by Catherine Janssen Irwin
“Only at Christmas”
Only at Christmas are spirits so bright.
Only at Christmas do cares seem so light.
If each day we’d treasure God’s blessing so dear,
we could live Christmas each day of the Year. Amen
