In this letter of Paul to the Romans, he explains that the gospel

SANCTUARY CANDLE
Christmas Eve Family Mass at 4PM
In Memory of: Michael Rosenbaum
Requested By: Mom
Our Family Christmas liturgy celebration will be held at 4
PM on Christmas Eve. We are asking all children of the
parish through OLMC School and our Life Long Faith
Formation Classes to write letters to Jesus, telling him
what Christmas means to them and being thankful that
he came into the world on this very special day. These
letters will be tied with a bow and placed into the
treasure chest that is in the sanctuary in front of the
altar.

ADORATION/MIRACULOUS MEDAL NOVENA
PLEASE NOTE: Adoration and the Miraculous Medal
Novena are CANCELED for Christmas Eve and New
Year’s Eve. It will resume at its regularly scheduled time
on Wednesday, January 7th.
Our theme this year is snowflakes and stars. The
children will be making snowflakes and stars in their
religious education classes. So… please bring them to
the 4 PM Mass. In fact you can also do this as a family
project. Just make sure they are on a stick and can be
raised up during the story.
HOLIDAY OFFICE HOURS
The Parish Office will be closed from Noon on
Wednesday, December 23rd until 9:00 am on Monday,
January 5th.

St. Simon Stock offers opportunities for 6th through 12th grades
to become more involved in the parish. I encourage you to take
advantage of all our parish has to offer you. You have the
opportunity to learn, to live and to love your faith. All are
welcome: bring your friends! If coming out for meetings on
Sunday night is not your thing, Volunteer. Stay connected by
joining in different activities going on in the Parish. Do you like
to sing, play an instrument, enjoy reading or greeting people?

We have introduced the children to the Saints through
story, plays and images. In doing so, we invite them to
discover people just like them, whose “yes” to Jesus
opened up a whole new world. So next time someone
asks them “Who do you want to be when you grow up”?
they can aspire to be like these holy men and women
and answer, “I want to be a Saint”.
FIRST RECONCILIATION
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be celebrated

Child Lures Prevention Program
Will begin in December in Faith Formation Sessions
The Diocese of Camden has selected Child Lures
Prevention as a safe environment program for our
religious education programs in the parishes. The basic
premise is that an individual who intends to harm a child
uses a “lure” to get the child away and to do harm. So,
children are taught how to recognize lures and how to
protect themselves.
God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our
Savior, you have made us your sons and daughters in
the family of the Church.
May your grace and love help our families in every part
of the world be united to one another in fidelity to the
Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your
Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most
troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to
always seek your truth and live in your love.
Each year your child will be taught a different lure. The
Diocese of Camden is committed to ensure that the
children entrusted into our care are safe and that we
provide them with the tools they need to guarantee their
safety.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

The Breaking of the Oplatek
One of the most beautiful and most revered
Polish customs is the “breaking of the
oplatek.” The use of the Christmas wafer
(oplatek) is practiced not only by native
Poles in Poland, but by people all over the
world whose ancestors came from Poland.
The “oplatek” is a thin wafer, made of flour
and water. It is white and often embossed
with Christmas related religious images,
varying from the nativity scene, especially
Virgin Mary with baby Jesus, to the Star of
Bethlehem. Its tradition comes from Poland
and Eastern Europe.

On Christmas Eve, the whole family gathers
and waits impatiently for the appearance of
the first star. With its first gleam, they all
approach a table covered with hay and a
snow-white table cloth. A vacant chair and a
place setting is reserved for the unexpected
guest.

explains the custom. If you would like an
