“It’s wanting to know that makes us matter. Otherwise we’re going out the same way we came in.” Set in 1809 and in the present, a scandal
(possibly involving Lord Byron) sparks some present day scholars to dig into the past (and the garden) in search of what really happened at Sidley
Park. As secrets are unearthed and the mystery unravels, we are taken on a roller-coaster ride of ideas and emotions that mixes poetry, iterated
algorithms, landscape design, thermodynamics and sexual entanglements into a brilliant and exhilarating examination of the relationship between
past and present, order and disorder, certainty and uncertainty – and most importantly, what keeps our human hearts beating even in the face of
the inevitable march towards the end of time. We are delighted to bring Toronto this record-breaking, sell-out, hit Shaw Festival production of an
Olivier and Evening Standard Award-winner that The New York Times called “Stoppard’s richest, most ravishing comedy to date, a play of wit, intellect,
language, brio and emotion.” Note: Contains some mature language and content.

While it is unknown exactly when the character of Robin Hood originated, references to outlaws using the alias date back to the
12th century. Written tales began to appear around 1450, the earliest-known being A Little Gest of Robin Hood, a Middle English
ballad-poem filled with lots of thieving, double-crossing, murdering and adventure!

This musical is based on the 2007 movie Once, an Irish indie-film that was shot in 17 days on a shoe-string budget of €150,000. John
Carney, the writer/director, gave up his own salary to the two stars of the film (Greg Hansard and Markéta Irglová, who also composed
the music) and promised a share of the back-end for everyone if the film was a success. Once went on to win over 21 awards, including

Noël Coward wrote Blithe Spirit in just 5 days, in the spring of 1941. The play opened a mere 6 weeks later, on July 2, 1941, at London’s
Picadilly Theatre, and ran for over four years and 1,997 performances, breaking all previous box records for a non-musical on the
West End stage–a record that held until 1957 when it was surpassed by The Mousetrap. Renowned as one of the finest writers of high
comedy in the English language, Coward also penned lyrics for over 400 songs including such enduring classics as Mad About The Boy
and Twentieth Century Blues.

The iceberg that struck the RMS Titanic was located about 500 km south off the coast of Newfoundland. While the 711 survivors were
taken to New York, ships from Halifax were tasked with the difficult duty of recovering the bodies of those who perished. Only 337
bodies of the over 1500 victims were found. 119 of them were buried at sea. 209 were brought back to Halifax where 59 were claimed
by relatives and shipped home. The remaining 150 victims are buried in Halifax, the largest number anywhere in the world.

CANADIAN PREMIERE Direct from Broadway comes NEWSIES, the smash-hit, crowd-pleasing new musical from Disney! Set in New York City at
the turn of the twentieth century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged

Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to

of orphan and runaway children on a two-week long action against newspaper publishers Pulitzer and Hearst.

In 1992, Walt Disney Studios released a live action movie musical based on the real-life events of the Newsboys’ Strike of 1899. The
film was meant to be a revival of the live-action musical genre. Although not a hit in the theatres, its memorable score and athletic
dance numbers made it a fan favorite, and it quickly gained a cult following. The screenplay was later developed into a stage musical
by Disney Theatrical Group, due to popular demand.
