The Right Direction By Ron Grizzle My bride Penny thinks I am directionally-challenged. That is, she thinks I can easily get lost anywhere and anytime! When we were expecting our first child we lived in Kansas City, and the hospital where Penny was to deliver our little girl was downtown – maybe 15 miles from our apartment at the seminary. As the date neared for the birth, Penny insisted several times that I drive and that she accompany me so that I could learn the best route to the hospital. She was fearful that when the day came that she would go into labor, I would get lost driving to the hospital. (For the record: I did not get lost!) As we gather for worship on Sunday, I want us to look at a text in Matthew where wise men from the East sought Jesus. They were guided to the manger of the Christ child by a star. I don’t have a star in the sky to show me the way, but I do have an app on my iPhone that gets me to the right place these days. Beyond that, I have – as you have – a Heavenly Father who seeks always to guide and to direct me in the ways I should go. Let’s look to Him in every move we may make in our lives, and make the discoveries for our future that He desires. One more thing -- I am very much looking forward to celebrating in worship with you on Christmas Eve! It will be a wonderful time of song and Scripture and baptism and more. Please make plans to worship with us at 5:30 that evening. Your being a part of the celebration will make it special for me and for all of our church family!
