1st and 2nd Grade Basketball
Adel Park and Rec. is offering basketball to all boys
and girls in Grade 1 and 2. Games are played on Saturday mornings in January at the Adel Elementary gym. The
registration deadline is December 23 and the fee is $30.

participant receives a league t-shirt. For more information

Kids Yoga at the Library
Kids yoga classes will begin Mondays in January from
4-4:45 p.m. at the Adel Public Library. Cost is $45/month,
and space will be limited to 8 kids. Email Maggie at

to reserve your spot. Kids will need either a yoga mat or
beach towel for the class and will want to wear comfortable

adel umc presents christmas cantata
The Adel United Methodist Church Chancel Choir will
be presenting a Christmas Cantata, "Were You There On
That Christmas Night?" on Saturday, December 20 at 7
p.m. with a cookie reception to follow, and on Sunday,
December 21 at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. A cantata is a sung
composition with some added narration that is usually very
thought-provoking and inspiring. The Director is Marilyn
Kofmehl and Piano Accompaniment provided by Pam
Palmer. Narrators are Caroline Kern and Michelle Roling.
It is 30 minutes long and free-will donations will be
accepted. The church is located at 115 S. 10th St. in Adel.
2014 Seven Oaks Youth Day Trip
Children in grades 3-8 are invited to join the Adel Parks
and Rec team over Christmas Break for a trip to Seven
Oaks in Boone for skiing, snow tubing and more on Tuesday, December 29. We leave at noon and return at 4:30 p.m.
Cost is $50 per person and registrations are due December
19. Registration forms available at Adel City Hall. Contact

Strengthening Families Program in Adel
It’s an Iowa value which Iowa State University Extension
and Outreach of Dallas County believes in – the importance
of family. The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) for
Parents and Youth Ages 10-14 has proven effective in delaying the onset of substance abuse and reducing risky behavior in youth. Parents learn to set appropriate limits and
follow through with consequences while still showing love
and support. Entire families have benefitted by achieving an
enhanced positive relationship.
This 7-week series will take place at Adel Elementary
on Sundays, January 18-March 8 (no class February 1) from
5:30-7:30 p.m. with a free meal beginning at 5 p.m. The
