The Beautiful Custom of breaking and sharing
Christmas Wafers at the family Christmas meal was
originated in Eastern Europe and is still practiced by
many families today. The head of the family offers a
brief prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord and then
breaks and shares a piece with each member of the
family. Christmas Wafers are available at the
Parish Center (8 am-4 pm). Donation of $2 per
envelope would be appreciated.

December marks the sixth month of my
assignment here at Our Lady of Mercy
Parish. You have been very welcoming
and I am grateful for this opportunity to
serve you as your priest.
My hope and
prayer is that our parish family may
continue to be a place to experience and
grow in the virtues of Faith, Hope and
Love.
We would like to extend to you the Peace
and Joy that comes from Jesus Christ.
You will be remembered in a special way
in our prayers during the Christmas
Season. May the celebration of Christ’s
birth fill you richly with his blessings.
Merry Christmas to all!!
Sincerely,
Fr. Keith Laskowski
Fr. Elias Munyaneza
Fr. George Winne
Members of our parish book
clubs have enjoyed reading the
book Rediscover Catholicism
and would like to offer a free
copy of the book to people
attending mass this weekend. If
you are interested in learning
more about our Catholic faith, and in enriching your
faith as well, please take a complimentary copy from
the table in the vestibule. We are certain that the
contents of the book will inspire you.
Please share with family or friends, or return the book
to church after you have read it so others can have a
chance to read it as well.
For Your Information
Father Elias Munyaneza is chaplain at the
Easton Hospital and St. Luke's Anderson
Campus. He finds a difficulty at the present
time: patients at these hospitals are not
being automatically identified with regards to
religious affiliation. If you or someone you
know is a patient at either of these hospitals,
he would welcome an invitation to visit
them. You may call the parish office 610252-7381 and we will contact Father Elias.
He would also welcome a direct call at his
cell phone 484-542-9261.
Would You Like to Donate a Christmas
Poinsettia in memory of a loved one,
for the altar on Christmas? Please
place $10 in an envelope with your
name and the person in whose memory
the flowers are given. Envelopes may
be handed in at the Parish Center or placed in the
collection basket.

Your donations to the Giving Tree will
help those in need through the Catholic
Charities in their Pregnancy and
Parenting Support Services. Please

City Lights: Comedy Night
A true saint of our times, Gianna Molla was a mother and

complications during her fourth pregnancy arose, she
sacrificed her own life for the life of the child. Today she is
celebrated as a model of radical sacrifice, virtue and joy.
City Lights: Comedy Night will be held on Saturday,
January 10, 2015 from 8 to 11 PM at St. Joseph the
Worker Parish Center, Orefield. Young adults (posthigh school to age 35) in the Diocese of Allentown
are invited to gather for an evening of food and fun,
an opportunity to meet Bishop Barres, and live
entertainment by the nationally touring musical
comedy duo – Dave and Brian. The event is
$10/person which includes appetizers and nonalcoholic beverages (cash bar available, please bring
valid ID). The attire is classy casual (no jeans, tshirts, or sneakers). Pre-registration is required by

The World Meeting of Families is the world’s largest Catholic
gathering of families. Each one has a theme that energizes
and enlivens the event while adding great depth of meaning
to our understanding of families. The theme of the World
Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 is “Love Is Our
Mission: The Family Fully Alive,” emphasizing the impact of
the love and life of families on our society.
