The Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) is seeking a part time position for Investment Manager to assist
the Vice President/Finance in managing VCCF’s investment assets, including:
• VCCF core endowment portfolio
• Smith Foundation endowment portfolio (VCCF support organization)
• Swift Foundation endowment portfolio (VCCF contract for investment management)
This part time position will take primary responsibility for managing the VCCF Investment Committee, which
recommends to the VCCF board of directors investment policy, manager selection and oversight of VCCF
endowment policies and procedures. VCCF is the community foundation that serves Ventura County, California,
located just north of Los Angeles on the Pacific coast. The foundation had total assets of $135 million, as of March
2014, which includes over 600 charitable funds managed on behalf of donors who entrust VCCF with their charitable
and philanthropic donations. In addition to its donor advised and designated funds, scholarship funds, field of interest
and discretionary funds, VCCF also runs the Center for Nonprofit Leadership, a management support organization
and owns the VCCF Nonprofit Center, a 53,500 sq.ft. nonprofit office center that housing 15 nonprofit tenants that
serve the Ventura County region, including four tenants in the VCCF Grassroots Office Suite. The latter Center is an
investment of VCCF’s administrative endowment funds.
This new position has been created in light of the retirement of VCCF’s long standing VP Controller, and the
anticipated hire of a Vice President/Finance. The ideal candidate will have experience in investment management,
accounting and be familiar with the work and financial structure of a community foundation, investment portfolios and
grantmaking organizations, and have at least a decade’s experience in investment management, finance, accounting
and/or fund accounting. Extensive nonprofit experience not required, though beneficial. The candidate must be
comfortable with, and embody, the organizational values VCCF has adopted, and work well in a collegial environment
with other staff colleagues. Strong candidates will reflect a willingness to do what is required to ensure accurate
records, smooth operations and oversight of often complex and competing priorities. Works well under pressure,
respects deadlines and has capacity for enhancing operating efficiencies. Familiarity with online systems a must.
Exposure to board members and oversight committees requires ability to work with volunteers and to present
materials on a timely basis.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Assistant reports directly to the VP of Philanthropic Services and will work collaboratively across
departments. The Program Assistant provides administrative and program-related support to facilitate grantmaking
and scholarship programs and donor advised funds process. Duties include, but are not limited to, monitor grant and
scholarship process, support Donor/Agency Funds process, manage FIMS database, prepare award, payment and

Management of Grants/Donor Management Database (FIMS)
 Ensure grants/fund/scholarship database and profiles are current with appropriate coding, notes,
and change of pertinent information.
 Create and maintain grant/fund/scholarship records using FIMS grants/donor software program.
 On-going clean-up of grant/fund/scholarship profiles including duplicate identification and removal.
 Generate grant/ fund reports and lists, as scheduled and as needed, including grant
agreements, payment requests, condition reports, and edit reports.

General Administrative Assistance
 Create, organize and manage departmental files (grant/fund/scholarship) and incorporate process
improvements to ensure files and documents are updated and easily accessible (includes electronic
copies on computer shared network drives).
 Respond to general departmental inquiries, providing helpful and responsive communications to
grant applicants, grant recipients, donors, and others who contact Philanthropic Services
Department.
 Draft and edit correspondence, memos, department updates, as well as other documents as
needed.
 Prepare administrative/grant/donor documents (i.e. tracking forms, edit reports, monthly condition
report, delinquent letters, etc.).
 Preparation and coordination of materials for Program Review and Grants Committee, and/or board
meetings, and assist with support for those meetings, including logistics, scheduling and recording
meeting minutes.
 Assist in planning and execution of events.
 Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
 Bachelor degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
 1-3 years of experience in an administrative or support role, preferably in philanthropy or other nonprofit
environment.
Skills

Local Initiatives Support Corporation and Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) are seeking a quartertime (790 hours) AmeriCorps Member to serve as Financial Education Assistant.
CEDC is a private non-profit affordable housing development corporation, incorporated in 1981. Its mission: "To
provide comprehensive housing services, through a community building approach, that facilitate self-sufficiency for
individuals and families who are most lacking in opportunity in Ventura, Santa Barbara Counties, and adjacent areas
of Los Angeles County." CEDC serves extremely-low to low-income residents including farm workers, seniors, and
special needs residents. CEDC builds and manages affordable housing, provides financial education to increase
home ownership and prevent foreclosure, and works with residents and partners to increase access to resources and
to improve neighborhood safety and health.
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is dedicated to helping community residents transform distressed
neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities of choice and opportunity — good places to work, do
business and raise children. LISC combines corporate, government and philanthropic resources to help communitybased organizations revitalize underserved neighborhoods. This strategy extends to the LISC AmeriCorps program
where we support placing AmeriCorps Members with local non-profit partners. Members assist in efforts to revitalize
underserved neighborhoods across America and create vibrant places for people to live, work, and play.
The member selected to serve in this capacity will be responsible for:
Assisting Home Ownership Center staff with increasing participation in financial education workshops, and with
evaluation and program improvement. The activities to be performed by the Financial Education Assistant will
include:
• Outreach in community settings and at community events;
• Recruitment of at least 100 participants for financial education workshops (70% will show improved financial
knowledge);
• Assisting Home Ownership Center Counselors with workshop presentations;
• Data collection and analysis (participant evaluations);
• Assist staff with program evalulation and improvement based on participant responses.
• This position will require attending resident and community meetings in the evening.
Members will also be expected to fully participate as part of the LISC AmeriCorps team.
LISC sponsored activities including:
• Attend all locally sponsored monthly meetings;
• Participate in a nationally sponsored webinars;
• Engage in every-other-month affinity groups to discuss topics related to the member’s service;
This is an AmeriCorps position. LISC and CEDC will not allow the member to engage in activities that are considered

• Have status as a US citizen or possess permanent resident status

Program Benefits
• The position pays a living allowance (stipend) of $4,000; payable by CEDC. (Service with AmeriCorps is not
considered employment with CEDC.)
• Upon successful completion of the term of service the member will be eligible for a $1,493 education award
which may be used to pay tuition or to pay off existing, eligible student loans.
• AmeriCorps member participating in this program may attend school (or hold a second job) while in service.

The Program Assistant serves as administrative and program delivery support for the Volunteer and Program

Co-facilitates ongoing psycho-educational groups for offenders of domestic violence. The goal of this
position will be to retain each trainee as a group facilitator for a minimum of one year after receiving
certification.
DUTIES
1. Co-facilitates court mandated classes with an approved batterers' intervention group facilitator, for
a period of 104 hours in a six month period of time. Thereafter, VC Probation Agency will determine
final approval. Must receive certification within a one year period of time. Upon receiving
certification, trainees will be eligible to apply for a group facilitator role.
2. Works with the approved group facilitator to ensure all lesson plans adhere to the program
curriculum and remain in accordance with the requirements stated in Penal Code § 1203.097 &
1203.098.
3. Ensures that the group tone, content and therapeutic methods reflect the principle of holding
batterers accountable through exploration of the roots and intent of their behavior.

and direct supervision of sheltered youth; provides awake supervision during overnight shifts of the facility,
grounds, and residents during assigned shift.

OVERVIEW
This position reports to YCO Program Manager and constitutes a member of the Youth Crisis Team
responding during assigned shifts to crisis calls by phone to provide immediate crisis counseling and support
to youth and their family members.
DUTIES
1. Respond immediately by phone to calls on the Youth Crisis Line. Respond immediately by phone or in
person to victims and provide crisis counseling, information and appropriate referrals.
2. Assess immediate needs for safety, shelter, food as well as clarify safe alternatives.
3. Arrange emergency shelter placement when appropriate.
4. Facilitate transportation from safe locations to emergency shelter or other safe location.
5. Complete all required documentation associated with crisis sessions and services provided.
6. Complete and turn in documentation to YCOP manager following shift or for assistance when
troubleshooting, and with staff when referring shelter placements.
7. Attend monthly program meetings and in-service trainings.
8. Maintain familiarity with the resources in Ventura County to assist when making referrals.
9. May participate in community events, fundraising efforts and community education.
10. May participate in law enforcement briefings.
11. Maintain confidentiality regarding clients per California Evidence Code Section 1037-1037.8.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Resource Development will lead a highly collaborative team prepared to advance United Way
of Ventura County’s (UWVC) development efforts with aggressive annual growth. Working in close collaboration with
the President and CEO and Board of Directors, he/she will develop organizational strategies to support the
organization’s community investment objectives and develop long-range and short-range plans to support those
strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
• Designing and meeting aggressive annual and long-term fundraising goals.
• Creating internal and external processes that support a culture of sustained major fundraising.
• Developing a significant portfolio of major gift donors/prospects and managing the fundraising strategy for these
donors with primary responsibility for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship (range: $10,000 to $50,000+).
• Effective ongoing in-person and written communication with donors.
• Supporting the President and CEO, Board members, and UWVC staff to effectively engage in individual donor
cultivation and solicitation activities.
• Management and tracking of development activities through the use of the organization’s database (Andar)
producing regular progress reports to the President and CEO and Board.
• Working collaboratively to create customized solicitation strategies that match the objectives of the organization and
interests of donor prospects.
• Executing funding plans for multi-year growth via foundation and corporate grant requests that meet UWVC’s
strategic goals.
• Building relationships with external partners, including volunteers, to utilize them in cultivating, soliciting and
stewarding donors.
• Serves as a representative of the UWVC by displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions
with other members of the United Way community and with the public.
