LINK TOGETHER A THERAPY AREA AND A PARTICULAR DEVELOPMENT PHASE This search example will focus on how to link together a therapy area and a particular development phase. For example: Seeking drugs currently in Phase 2 clinical for Asthma. This search can easily be done using the Advanced Search. 1. Advanced Search is located in the top right of every screen, under the Quick Search button. Figure 1 2. Once you open up the Advanced Search, you will be defaulted to the Drugs tab. We will use the filter for Current Development Status. For our search example, we will start by choosing a therapy area. On the field for Indication, click directly in the search box, or on the icon adjacent, to display the hierarchical index tree for a list of terms from which you may select. For our example, we will choose the indication of “Asthma.” Once you have typed in your term, click on the Look up button. Figure 3 4. Once you have selected “Asthma” from the list, it will appear in the Selected Items area below. Selecting the parent term will pick up the related children terms. Click on Apply to add it to your search criteria. Figure 4 5. Next go to the Status index, and select “Phase 2 Clinical” and then check Link to highest status button. Your search Strategy will look like the screen shot below. Next click on SEARCH to run your search. Figure 7 8. Your results will include drugs for Asthma not higher than Phase 2 clinical.
