On the feast of the Three
Kings or Epiphany, the
priests at the end of Mass
bless chalk and holy water
to be used during pastoral
home visits that take place annually at this time of year.
Every home and family in the parish is visited by the
priests of the parish once a year at Christmas time.
When the priest visits a home in the parish, he begins
with the greeting, “Peace be to this house and to all that
dwell here in.” Prayers are said including the Our Father
and Hail Mary. The house is sprinkled with holy water
and the door marked with the chalk blessed in church
(optional). Finally the priest takes some time to speak
with the family about any concerns they may have.

It is a great joy to visit our parish families for the
Annual Blessing of Homes. This visit enables us to
experience the family of St. Thomas More in a very
real way. If you wish, please complete the form

To our Parish Family of St. Thomas More,
Your generosity shown to St. Thomas More Church
during this Holy Christmas Season was truly overwhelming! I would like to extend thanks to all who
bought gifts for our ‘Giving Tree’ and those
involved in sorting and delivering. This year’s gifts
went to our Food Pantry Families, St. Leo’s Parish
in Irvington, Josephine’s Place in Elizabeth and our
Lady of Perpetual Help Pre-School in Newark. All
gifts were very much needed and appreciated.
Countless thanks to our many ministries: Art and
Environment - the love, dedication and talent you
display grows each year - the church looks magnificent. Our Music Minister Brad Ucci, our leader of
song, Diane Ruggiero and our dedicated choir and
all who sang, played an instrument and gave praise the music was glorious! Special thanks to Fairfield
Garden Center for our beautiful Christmas tree that
adorns our church, to Bob & Sharon Laner for the 3
trees placed at the Nativity scene in church and to
Bernice’s Floral Creation for the countless generosity of her floral arrangements at Christmas and
throughout the year. Thank you to the CCD staff
and the Knights of Columbus for all you did during
this Christmas Season and all you continue to do
throughout the year. A special thanks to Ray for all
his hard work and dedication and to the St. Thomas
More Staff and everyone who helped to make this
Christmas so beautiful.
In gratitude to my brother priests, Fr. Juan,
Fr. Gene and our Deacon Aidan - we are truly
blessed to have you with us. And not to forget our
parishioners who sent their prayers, well wishes,
cards, gifts, food, desserts, etc. I speak for Fr. Juan,
Fr. Gene and myself - May God bless all of you and
your families with peace, joy, and good health.
