Dates: Jan – Feb By: Anne Ebeling
GALLERY
‘Some of One’ is a very personal exhibition
that tells a simple story of having, losing
and longing.
Through this series of exploratory works Anne
aims to unlock aspects of identity. Using
photography she has recorded and observed
intimate relationships as well as reactions to
immediate personal surroundings. By taking
consumable, everyday objects and merging
them with organic sources, she responds to
their transience, examining how function
becomes nature.

THEATRE
A fictional world, a fictional 1940s, an imagined country,
a reimagined war. Here, people with special powers are
being hunted for what they can do, forced to wear a badge
marking them out. ‘Memory Box’ tells the gripping tale of an
extraordinary man who journeys to escape the ‘regime’
armed only with his memories and examines our treatment
of the vulnerable in society.
Equinox was started in 2008 as part of KCAT Art & Study

brave ensemble. Artists with learning disabilities and other
disadvantages work in collaboration with other professional

MY BEDSIT WINDOW
Dates: 13th Feb Time: 7.30pm
Tickets: €10/8 By: Red Lightning Productions in
association with City Theatre Dublin
THEATRE
‘My Bedsit Window’ follows actor and writer William Blake,
as he travels through a wonderland of adventure to pursue
his dreams. From Dublin to London and back again, William
encounters many strange characters along his path and the
promise of stardom keeps his dreams alive; even in the darkest
of times. ‘My Bedsit Window’ will strike a chord with actors
and writers in the entertainment industry. Having been told to
“get a real job” many a time, writer and performer David Gilna
dreamt of massive breaks and pay outs, profit shares and
social welfare. After the play David will talk frankly about how
to network, pitch and sell in the entertainment industry.
“My Bedsit Window is surreal, kaleidoscopic, and bursting
with energy.” Emer O’ Kelly, Sunday Independent

JASON BYRNE:
YOU NAME THE SHOW
Dates: 25th Feb Time: 8pm Tickets: €20 By: John Henderson
It has often been said that no two Jason
Byrne shows are ever the same. Now the
master of improvised comedy pushes the
limits even further with the introduction of
‘The Wheel of Stand Up’. This totally original
stand up concept, which is either an act of
extreme daring or supreme laziness, involves
Jason not only letting the audience name the
show but getting them to choose the topics
discussed as they are invited to spin the
wheel of random nonsense.
Don’t miss the most talked about show at the
Edinburgh Fringe 2014. Talk that involved
every other comedian in the world saying,
‘He’s doing what now? … ah Jesus, why do
we even bother!’
We’ve all watched Jason rip up the comedy
rule book. Now watch him rip it up, set
fire to it, defecate on it and point at it in
derisory fashion.*
“The outright King of live comedy” The Times
“A Comedy God” The Mirror
* This show contains no actual ripping,
burning or defecating and only some mild
derisory pointing. 18+

‘The Ladies on the Rock’ are a familiar sight

Damien’s loyal following identify with a
singer who has emerged from the workingclass streets of Dublin’s Northside with his
powerful self-belief intact, and a storyteller’s
eye for detail in the writing and delivery of
his songs. His generosity of spirit, affiliation
with those in need and recognition of
suffering, remains. It prevails even when
that preoccupation may shine a spotlight
on aspects of modern society that are
uncomfortable to face. Dempsey faces them,
and himself, and us. Toe-to-toe. His concerts

fans singing along to every word. Described

FESTIVAL
Bealtaine is a national festival which

activities. Throughout the month of May, you
can expect to participate, watch, make and
be entertained. From film to dance, music to
theatre, there is most definitely something
for everyone. Please keep an eye out for our
programme announcements in early 2015
and/or register your interest with Niamh
Fitzpatrick on (01) 883 2123.
YOUTH ARTIST
IN RESIDENCE
As part of axis’ work in the area of youth arts
we are delighted to announce Jonathan Ho
as axis’ Youth Artist in Residence for 2015.
Here’s a few words from Jonathan himself:
‘This residency will provide me with an
unbelievable opportunity to hone my craft
as a young photographer/filmmaker and will
allow me to further expand my knowledge
and career opportunities by working directly
on a number of axis led projects. I also aim
to present my first solo exhibition at the end
of this residency, coinciding with ‘LiFT Youth
Arts Festival’ in March 2015.’
