news week commencing 15 december

The 2nd race in the Istead Winter Handicap took place last Wednesday, following the cancellation of
November’s event due to The Unfortunate Incident of Barry and the Post. The league table is now
starting to take shape with 15 runners now having taken part in both October and December’s races.
Carly Jameson leads at the moment following two good results and a personal best.
Thursday saw the third pair of races in the Cyclopark Floodlit series in Gravesend. Stacy Harrison was
our sole runner in the 5k event, but we had five runners in the 10k race. Paul Jones was our first
male finisher, and Barbara Ockendon our first female.
Shorne had its usual complement of Istead members on Saturday morning, with the race being won
by Paul Jones in her first attempt at this event. Vikki Hill was our first lady across the line. We also
had runners out at three other events, with Steve Ball getting a good PB at Great Lines.
Sally Dawodu-Talabi was our only member to make the trip up to Oxford for the South of England
Cross Masters Country Championships. Sally finished 12th in her age group. PS – I forgot to mention
Sally’s PB last week at the Bedford Half Marathon.
