Christmas Eve Candlelight Service December 24, 2014 6pm Prelude Welcome *Gathering The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness, On them a light has shined. For a child has been born for us, A son given to us; Authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Carol # 280 ........................................................ “One Small Child” Celebrating Advent Expectation Reading 1: Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (Light the candles) Reading 2: Why do we light all the candles? Reading 3: We first light the Hope, Joy, Love, and Peace candles because they celebrate the miraculous gift of God that comes to us in the birth of Christ. Later when we light the Christ candle its light flickering in our sanctuary bids us to come and see the mighty thing that God has done in bringing us salvation. Reading 4: Let us pray: Come Lord Jesus, we are open to your Spirit. We await your miraculous birth because you alone are the Light of the World! Amen.
