Group Accountant Compliance

Finance Division in Rietvlei
GROUP ACCOUNTANT: COMPLIANCE
(HAYBAND –O)
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall compliance monitoring of the Finance Portfolio in
respect of statutory, legislative and regulatory frameworks as well as company policy and procedures; Evaluate
and assess internal controls and risk impact in a finance environment; Ability to work with a cross functional
team on the implementation of stringent controls within the financial arena; Development of sound accounting
policies and procedures which assist in the mitigation of risk exposures; Evaluation, implementation and
management of financial systems and business process management.
PRIMARY DUTIES







To ensure that the finance environment complies in all respects with all governance protocols, statutory,
regulatory and legislative frameworks.
Keeping abreast of changes in relevant frameworks and implementation thereof to ensure timely compliance.
To develop sound accounting policies, procedures and controls.
To provide complete, accurate and reliable information to management on Rand Water’s compliance status.
To identify, assess and monitor the impact of risks to the finance portfolio and advise on corrective action to
mitigate the associated risks.
To assess and maintain high standards of internal control across the Finance Portfolio.
Review and manage financial accounting systems and processes in Rand Water.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience









B.Comm Degree or equivalent diploma (majoring in Accounting)
Minimum of five years working experience in an accounting environment with similar responsibilities.
Experience in compliance monitoring and risk management in a similar environment
Experience in internal control monitoring and management in a finance environment.
Experience in accounting and company policy development and reviews.
Excellent knowledge of compliance standards in respect of statutory, legislative and regulatory frameworks
including PFMA, IFRS, Income Tax, VAT, JSE requirement, King III etc.
Monitoring of financial systems and business process mapping.
Excellent knowledge of financial accounting systems and experience in the management thereof.
Advanced computer literacy in respect of spreadsheet applications, word documents and powerpoint
presentations.
Desirable qualifications and experience

BCompt (Hons) - Achieved or studying towards a postgraduate qualification
