Newsletter 02/2015 29 January 2015 Dear Parents, Guardians and Learners I believe that the true strength of an organisation and in this instance, our school, lies in its ability to unite when difficult circumstances or challenges arise. This week is no exception, following the report on Carte Blanche. Consult our Counselling Newsletters Our Counselling Newsletters are filled with information and advice on managing teenage-related issues including substance abuse. You can find past issues under the Newsletter section of our website: http://www.randparkhigh.co.za/news/news.html We trust that you received the school’s communique, on Monday, confirming our zero-tolerance approach to substance abuse and our position following the broadcast of this programme on M-Net. We once again reiterate that the safety of our learners is an absolute priority, and under no circumstances will we tolerate any behaviour that has the potential to bring our school into disrepute. We have been overwhelmed by the support received from parents and learners who have provided written and telephonic encouragement and endorsement of the school’s zero-tolerance policy. While we are disappointed that our school was mentioned in the report, despite no evidence being provided to substantiate claims made, we acknowledge that the rise of drug and substance abuse in society is a growing problem and exposing those elements who are involved in this illegal activity is absolutely essential. You are reminded to contact our Educational Psychologist, Ms Lana Kleingeld, should you wish to obtain more information about substance abuse or require assistance.
