Set out both containers every week Cart Storage Set out your recycling container, along with your garbage container no earlier than 6 am and no later than 8 am. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to identify a secure location on your property for storage of your containers on non-collection days. Do not overfill or compress To minimize the problems caused by birds and animals, please ensure that all garbage is contained within carts and lids are closed. Please report any tampering of the carts by birds and animals immediately to the TNRD. Clean Recyclables Remove lids and caps and rinse all bottles and cans. Breakdown and flatten cardboard (no larger than 18” in width and length). Damaged or Missing container? If your container is stolen or damaged, contact us immediately. We will make arrangements to replace or repair your container. Containers that are stolen or damaged through neglect or misuse will be replaced or repaired at the property owner’s expense. Special Note to All Businesses Please be advised that this program is primarily a residential service and that businesses currently using variations of commercially provided garbage bins should continue to use them. Other large volume generators will need to consider a similar service if the amount of garbage and recycling is greater than can be practically contained in the new carts. Moving? Please do NOT take your container with you. What will be accepted in the blue top recycling containers? Materials can be mixed, no sorting required! Clean materials only – this is critical to the success of the service and will be monitored. Paper: Newspapers, magazines, catalogues, phone books, junk mail, cards, office paper, inserts, file folders, envelopes, paper bags, paper egg cartons, hard and soft cover books. Plastic: All bottles, food tubs and lids with the recycle symbol number 1-7 (milk jugs, yogurt containers, ice cream, shampoo, laundry detergent, plastic bags etc.) Metal: Food and beverage containers, lids, caps, aluminum trays and foil. Cardboard: Large volumes of corrugated cardboard and boxboard (shipping boxes, cereal boxes, shoe boxes etc.) should be taken directly to the Savona transfer station. What will NOT be accepted in recycling containers?
