Oxford County Bag Tag Program
• Bag tags cost $1.50 / July 1, 2014 $2.00
• Bag tags purchased with anything other than cash are subject to store policy regarding extra
charges.
• There is no tax on bag tags and no minimum or maximum quantity required for purchase.
• Visit our website for a complete listing of vendor locations www.oxfordcounty.ca/waste
Bag Tags on Your Garbage
• Place tag(s) on the top half of the garbage bag or fold around the
neck of the garbage bag; both ends of the tag must be visible.
• Broken or ripped tags are not acceptable.
2
• When using a reusable container, place the appropriate number of tag(s) on the top bag inside the
container. DO NOT tag individual bags inside the container or the container itself.
How Many Tags Do I Need?
2
One bag tag is needed for:

Curbside
Recycling Collection
Oxford County curbside recycling program is a two-stream collection system. That means containers
(glass, metal, plastic, etc.) are to be placed in one blue box and fibres (paper, box board, etc.) are to
be placed in another blue box. Recycling is collected on a bi-weekly basis, on the same weekday as
your garbage collection. Refer to page 29 for a guide to sorting your recyclables.
Collection Requirements
• Set out by 7:00 am the morning of your collection.
• Separate containers and fibres.
• Place no further than 1 metre (3 feet) from the
municipal curb.
• Never set your recycling out in plastic bags. Shredded
paper in plastic bags is acceptable in County Collection,
not acceptable in SWOX Collection.
• For high visibility, use a standard blue box.
3
• All items should be clean and placed loose in your bin.
• Secure your items by stacking your bins or put something
heavy on top; cleanup is your responsibility.
The County sells recycling containers at or below cost to residents.
For durable containers, contact your local municipal office or the
Oxford County Administration Building.

Curbside
Garbage Collection
Garbage is collected weekly. All garbage must have the appropriate number of Oxford
County garbage bag tags. Refer to page 2 for information on the bag tag program.
Container Requirements
Containers must be in good repair and have two handles, one on either side, for easy lifting and dumping. Refer to page 30
for a list of items allowed in your garbage.
Collection Requirements
4
• Set out by 7:00 am the morning of your collection.
• Keep material out of the path of snowplows and sidewalks.
• Place no further than 1 metre (3 feet) from the
municipal curb.
• Broken bags may not be collected; cleanup is your
responsibility.
• Ensure your set out is highly visible - black or green bags
work best; white garbage bags are difficult to see in the
winter.
• Place bag tag around the neck of the garbage bag so that
the ends of the tag are stuck to one another. This prevents
lost tags, as some tags may not stick to a cold plastic bag.
• Do not place material on top of snow banks as collection
staff cannot climb over snow banks to pick up material.
• No loose garbage in containers.
