The Mediation Week kicks off with the Round Table event, which offers a
unique platform for mediation practitioners and ADR academics from all
around the world to exchange best practices, to discuss latest
developments, to share experience and to foster the development of an
international network of mediators. The Round Table’s interactive format
encourages lively discussion on the most current and burning topics
about mediation, in a truly international environment.
This event is exclusively reserved for the participants of the ICC
International Commercial Mediation Competition and invited guests.
10th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition
6-11 February 2015
This annual event is the only moot devoted exclusively to international
commercial mediation. It is ICC’s biggest educational event, but it is also
considered to be one of the main educational and networking events in
international commercial mediation. Since its first edition, the
Competition has grown in size and has gained a lot of international
visibility and recognition, accomplishments which will be celebrated this
year on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the event.
Each year 66 teams from business and law schools from more than
30 countries are selected through a competitive application process and
have the opportunity to test their problem solving skills in mock
mediation sessions. The students take the role of party or counsel in
scenarios based on real international commercial disputes. Around
120 internationally renowned mediators and dispute resolution
professionals from around the world also join the event as volunteer
judges or mediators.
During six days, the Competition will feature over 200 mock mediation
sessions, as well as numerous training programmes and social events for
no less than 500 participants. Through this diverse program, ICC ensures
that the students will learn as much as possible about mediation in order
to be able to use it for the resolution of cross-border disputes – may it be
as lawyer, in-house counsel, member of management or mediator. For
professional mediators, the Competition is the annual occasion to meet,
network, exchange, share experiences with other mediators from around
the world and learn from each other.
