This year’s Weidner Center season also spotlights the beauty of the Moscow City Ballet, the power
of a full symphony orchestra, the elegant jazz of Wynton Marsalis and the down-home charm of an
Oak Ridge Boys Christmas, among others. Additionally, we invite you to sample the excellent events
our University’s Music and Theatre programs have to offer. UW-Green Bay has made a commitment
to its students to provide 360° of Learning, and the offerings at the Weidner Center extend that
learning experience beyond campus to all of you.
I take great pride — as should you — in our shared success in reestablishing the
Weidner Center’s reputation as a jewel of the arts and entertainment scene. I will
always be a loyal supporter of this remarkable campus and community facility.
I look forward to seeing you at the Weidner throughout the coming year.
Enjoy!

STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and utterly
unique—an unforgettable experience for audiences of all
ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered
armfuls of awards and rave reviews and has appeared on
numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe
uses everything but conventional percussion instruments –
matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo
lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.
Year after year, audiences worldwide keep coming back for
more of this pulse-pounding electrifying show. As the Boston
Globe says, “If you haven’t seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it,
take someone and share the pleasure!” STOMP. See what all the
noise is about.
THE STORY AS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE!
Experience Camelot’s “one brief shining moment” as Lerner
and Loewe envisioned it in one of theatre’s most legendary
musicals. Recount the time-honored legend of King Arthur,
Guinevere, Lancelot, and the Knights of the Round Table in an
enchanting fable of chivalry, majesty, and brotherhood in this
four-time Tony® Award-winning show.
Camelot tells the story of the legend of King Arthur who
rules his kingdom with new ideals, bringing peace to a troubled
land. But when his beautiful new Queen Guinevere and the
dashing Sir Lancelot, his most trusted knight, give in to their
passion for one another, one of the most fabled love triangles
of all time ensues. When Mordred, King Arthur’s illegitimate
son, catches on and sees a kingdom in chaos, he attempts to
destroy all that is Camelot!

Intimate and fresh, never has this story of passion, pageantry
and betrayal been more captivating. The celebrated score
includes the classics “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “The Simple
Joys of Maidenhood,” and the title song, “Camelot.”

America’s first-couple of the banjo, Béla Fleck and Abigail
Washburn, make a rare joint performance on the Weidner
stage. Through a career that has taken him all over the
musical map, Fleck, a 15-time Grammy® winner, has
virtually reinvented the sound of the banjo by taking it
far into the horizon, where be-bop, jazz, classical and
bluegrass meld together in a surprising wash of color and
light. Washburn, on the other hand, has taken a revelatory
approach to American of old-time music, pairing venerable
folk elements with far-flung sounds to create a music that
is both strangely familiar and unlike anything heard before.
Fleck and Washburn will be playing music they developed
as a couple in informal settings, a mix of traditional and
original songs and tunes.

The Priests
Friday, March 20, 2015
7:30pm
Starting at $38.50
The Priests are exactly that, three Roman Catholic priests from
Northern Ireland, Father Eugene O’Hagan, Father Martin O’Hagan
(they’re brothers), and Father David Delargy, who just happen to have
three voices that fit together magically. Their ability to render sacred
music, classical arias and traditional Irish songs with a kind of rare
accessibility led to a recording contract. Despite their success, they
have kept their ‘day jobs’ as parish priests—insisting that celebrating
regular Mass and community work comes first. The Priests don’t just sing.
Frs. Eugene, Martin and David say, “When we sing, we pray.”

When The Priests released their eponymously-titled album in 2008, they could
have had little inkling of what was about to happen to them. As it transpired,
plenty did - huge record sales, record-breaking triumphs and global fame. Their
debut album, sold at such a pace, it secured them a place in the Guinness Book
of World Records as the fastest-selling classical debut ever.
Starting at $35.00
Swan Lake is one of the most famous romantic ballets
of all time, filled with drama and exquisite choreography.
When Siegfried, a dashing young prince, falls in love
with Odette, the beautiful Queen of the Swans, the
sorcerer Von Rothbart is determined to use his evil
magic to thwart their happiness. With Tchaikovsky’s
sweeping score, Swan Lake is a signature work not to
be missed. Performed by this remarkable ensemble, it
is sure to be a treat. The Moscow City Ballet
is one of Russia’s most successful and
popular companies, highly admired
for its distinctive style, exciting
choreography, and exceptionally
gifted dancers.
They fascinated the global media and graced the pages of all manner of
publications including Time Magazine, sharing sofa space with TV hosts the
world over. In September 2010, the Priests shared a stage with Pope Benedict
XIV before a crowd of 80,000 people in London’s Hyde Park.

2014 | 2015 Farewell Season
Star Spangled Celebration
All You Need Is Love
September 13, 2014 | 7:30pm
February 14, 2015 | 7:30pm
“It’s easier to understand a nation by listening to its
music, than by learning its language.”
— Unknown
On a September night 200 years ago, Francis Scott
Key captured the independence and defiance that
characterized the spirit of our young nation as he penned
the Star Spangled Banner. Over the past 200 years,
American music has often defined who we are as a people.
Few musician-songwriters evolved as rapidly as the
Beatles during the 1960s. From very simple 3-chord pop
tunes in their early years to complex lyrical themes and
orchestral arrangements later in the decade, the evolution
of their music contributed to the revolution of rock music
across the planet. Two albums in particular, Sgt. Pepper’s
Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour,
pressed the edges of the envelope with the integration of
complex musical arrangements into their hit records.
This concert will honor the 200th anniversary of
our national anthem with music of great American
songwriters who always seemed to understand the soul
of our country. Whether in war or peace, in cities or
under the big sky, during prosperity and desperation,
these songs remind us of the bonds that connect us all.
On Valentine’s Day, Canadian rock band Jeans ‘n
Classics will team up with the Green Bay Symphony
Orchestra to revisit this era of Beatles music. Show your
Valentine that “all you need is love” by bringing them to
a night of great Beatles music you will remember long
after you’re sixty-four.
Holiday Pops
December 19, 2014 | 7:30pm
December 20, 2014 | 2:30pm
Few events evoke the Christmas Spirit as thoroughly
as the annual Holiday Pops concert. The Green Bay
Symphony Orchestra, The Dudley Birder Chorale, and
Birder Studio of Performing Arts all team up to present
a program of Christmas Carols and Holiday Favorites.
For two decades, this concert has been a tradition in the
Green Bay area, and continues to leave audiences with a
glow that lasts throughout the Holiday Season.
An Evening of Brass & Organ
January 10, 2015 | 7:30pm
What better way to heat up a cold and dark January
evening than with the bright and majestic sounds of
great brass and organ music? This season the talented
and versatile GBSO brass and percussion musicians
will again team up with organist Jeff Verkeuilen to
present a selection of wonderful classic works. Octavio
Mas-Arocas, himself a trumpet player, will conduct the
concert. And the hall’s fabulous Wood Family organ,
Opus 3702 will echo throughout the auditorium.
About Jeans ‘n Classics: Peter Brennan’s Jeans ‘n
Classics is a winner! Since its inception, it has been a
star performer in the arts and entertainment scene. Its
concept of combining rock musicians and headlining
stars with world-class symphony orchestras has drawn
record-setting capacity crowds.

Since 1967 the GBSO has operated a highly successful
Youth Orchestra program. For nearly a half-century this
program has educated and graduated young musicians,
many of whom have gone to careers in music. To
close out our farewell season, it is only fitting that we
celebrate the achievement of the Youth Orchestra
program with this very special concert. Graduates of
the program who are currently professional musicians
will be invited “back home” to perform as guest soloists
with the GBSO. And finally, we will assemble members
of the youth symphony together with the GBSO on
stage to truly end the season on a high note.
