“
I’m proud to work for a company that makes
water stewardship one of its top priorities.
— Michael Powers, Mosaic’s South Pasture Mine
”
Michael Powers is a DeSoto County resident and operator at our South Pasture Mine in Hardee County. He helps
keep the mine’s water recirculation system running – which is key to managing our water supply and producing
the phosphate crop nutrients farmers use to grow our food supply. In fact, employees like Michael have helped
Mosaic reduce groundwater use in our Central Florida operations by more than 50 percent over the last 20 years.
Michael knows that water is not only important for Mosaic’s operations, but that it’s also an essential natural
resource for our local communities. Michael is just one of the many Mosaic employees dedicated to the
communities where we all live, work and play.
Visit mosaicindesoto.com and mosaicco.com/florida for more information.
We help the world grow the food it needs.

Why Was The Voice Of Jesus So Different Than Other Great Men?
Jesus spoke to the hearts of people with great power from God. When he spoke to the people their eyes were
opened and their hearts were enlightened. As he opened eyes and hearts, he gave them the spirit of wisdom and the
revelation of the knowledge of him. Jesus focus tells us in Romans 10:9-10 if you confess with your mouth Jesus as
lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.
For with the heart a person believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth he confesses resulting in
salvation. The people took notice when Jesus spoke for he spoke with great power and authority. Everything
subjected itself to his authority. Peter 3:22 tells us Jesus who is at the right hand of God having gone into heaven,
after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to him. Jesus spoke with love, for he loved all people despite race or creed. Folks this is what he wants us to do, love one another.
I John 4:7-8 tells us Beloved let us love one another, for love is from God, Folks this is what is wrong with our
country and world love is missing. There is too much anger and hate. Where is the kindness people are to show one
another? People do not know Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross and what he can do for them. Folks let Jesus
talk to your heart. Do you want to experience joy and happiness? Once you experience his love and power your will
feel like a different person. John 7:46 tells us the officers answered, Never has a man spoken the way this man
speaks. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him I am the way and the truth and the life no one comes to the father but
through me. This scripture is telling us there is no way we can get to heaven but through God’s son Jesus Christ.
Folks I know you don’t like to hear the word hell but it is the alternative for not accepting Jesus as lord and savior.
When Jesus comes back for his church during the rapture and you are still here get prepared for terrible times. The
Bible will describe if for you. Don’t let people tell you there is no such place because they are only deceiving themselves and you. Why take a chance to see. Folks the road the heaven will be very narrow while the gates to Hell will
be wide open. Please make a commitment to Jesus and accept him as Lord and Savior. There is no one greater than
he is. Thank You.
WAKE UP AMERICA
While creating men, God
promised women that a
good and ideal man
would be found in all
corners of the world, then
He made the earth round.

Happy New Year from First Christian Church of Arcadia! We are located just off Mills Ave.
on the corner of Maple and El Verano and wish each of you a Blessed New Year.
The following is a reminder of what we, as Americans and especially as Christians, should
be doing each and every day. This was taken from "The Seven Principles of the JudeoChristian Ethic", which is the system of the moral and social values that originates in the
Old and New Testaments of the Word of God.
Principle #7 - Our Personal Accountability to God
Perhaps the greatest restraint against acts of evil toward others is the knowledge that every
person and nation will one day give an account for their actions to Almighty God. Certainly
the Bible tells us that we are responsible for our actions and we must be accountable for
what we do or don't do. It also teaches that there is a penalty for doing wrong and a blessing when we do that which is right, noble, and just. "And it is appointed for men to die
once, but after this, the judgement." Hebrews 9:27.
The great American statesman Daniel Webster was once asked, "What is the most
sobering thought that ever entered your mind?" He quickly responded, "My personal accountability to God." Webster knew that he would one day stand before God in eternity and
give an account for his actions. The same applies to every man, woman, and nation.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the
kingdom,The power,

Forever and ever.

THE DEPOT 4-B WEST OAK STREET
John Bradford, a Dublin University
student, was on the side of the road
hitchhiking on a very dark night
and in the midst of a big storm.
The night was rolling on and no car
went by. The storm was so strong he
could hardly see a few feet ahead of
him. Suddenly, he saw a car slowly
coming towards him and stopped.
John, desperate for shelter and
without thinking about it, got into
the car and closed the door... Only
to realize there was nobody behind
the wheel and the engine wasn’t on.
The car started moving slowly. John
looked at the road ahead and saw a
curve approaching. Scared, he
started to pray, begging for his life.
Then, just before the car hit the
curve, a hand appeared out of
nowhere through the window, and
turned the wheel. John, paralyzed
STORY CONTINUED...
with terror, watched as the hand
came through the window, but
never touched or harmed him.
Shortly thereafter, John saw the
lights of a pub appear down the
road, so, gathering strength; he
jumped out of the car and ran to it.
Wet and out of breath, he rushed
inside and started telling everybody
about the horrible experience he
had just had.
A silence enveloped the pub when
everybody realized he was crying...
And wasn’t drunk.
Suddenly, the door opened, and two
other people walked in from the
dark and stormy night. They, like
John, were also soaked and out of
breath. Looking around, and seeing
John Bradford sobbing at the bar,
one said to the other...
Look, Paddy... there’s that idiot
that got in the car while we were
pushing it!

Good Ole Boys "Later"
The ride to Sarasota Hospital was a long one. The distance had to be around 100 miles or so. Lake
Placed to Sarasota is a long ride in the back of a hearse. It bothers me now that it was a hearse,
but back then I wasn’t thinking about that. My best friend had more to say about that than I did.
He rode with me remember. Being paralyzed was my biggest concern. Would I ever be able to
move my right arm again? Would I be able to write, to work, or even throw a ball? Then there
was the pain. That too was almost unbearable. Those kind of thoughts haunted me when I was
conscious. I’m not sure what kind of medication they had me on. Some kind of codeine I’m pretty
sure because codeine makes me sick still to this day. I remember bits and pieces of the ride. In and
out are the words I would use. Sometimes I would open my eyes and see the roof of the hearse.
Maybe a little of the surroundings, but not very much….. Finally we arrived at the hospital. I
don’t remember much about going in but I have memories of what they did. I was in and out of
consciousness, but I think they tried to put a half body cast on me. You know, from the waist up.
Somehow that didn’t work and I had to go through the removing of the cast. Somewhere in there
they decided to drill two holes in my head. Oh yea, I remember the drilling. There wasn’t any
pain, but I could feel the drill bit going into my head. Two anchors of some kind were screwed into
my head and they hung weights off the end of my bed to keep the two vertebrae’s separated and off
the spinal cord. After that, they put me in a private room. There I was lying in a hospital bed with
two holes drilled in my half shaved bald head. Each hole had an anchor attached. Each anchor
had a rope attached and each rope had a weight on it. What a site that must have been for my parents to see when they walked into my room. My dad told me later that when they walked in, they
just stood there and cried. ……….

Food For
Thought
by: Stephanie Corwin
I hate Monopoly. I mean, I really hate Monopoly. There is absolutely nothing about that snail-paced, railroad-to-railroad,
heavy-headed-Scotty-dog-sporting game that I like. So, since I
despise Monopoly, you know what that means - Curtis LOVES
Monopoly! Go figure. My burning hatred of all things Monopoly
hasn't always been this bad. I actually enjoyed the game when I
was a kid. Scott and I bought a commemorative edition of the
game back when we were first married. When Curtis got old
enough to take a stroll on Boardwalk we played a few times with
him, and then even bought him a SpongeBob edition. Somewhere
along the line, my tolerance for this board game has petered out.
It will inevitably take us a week to play a full game because of
distractions, dinner, a free movie rental from Redbox, a glass of
milk spilled onto the Chance cards, work, school, and sheer boredom. At some point, I usually give in just to get the game to end.
To the victor go the spoils, but to the ender of the game goes the
peace of mind knowing that you will never again agree to play.
In all fairness, I truly believe the fault lies with me, not with Hasbro. I'm an impatient sort of gal and it gets progressively worse,
the older I get. Now, Curtis gets all the Monopoly playing he
wants via an app on his Kindle - I don't even need to be in the
same room.
I have fond childhood memories of many board games. My
grandma and I played Connect Four about a bazillion times (although that may not be considered a true "board" game), as well
as Trouble, with its dome-popping form of dice rolling. Sorry!
was another of our favorites. Operation was fun, but kind of
nerve wracking. We bought Curtis the Operation game when he
was pretty young and after it buzzed at him a couple times he
never touched it again. I guess being a surgeon may not be in his
future. I had a Simon game when I was little. I loved seeing just
how long I could follow Simon's trail. Perfection was another favorite of mine. You'd start the timer, press down the plastic
board and attempt to put all the odd-shaped pieces into their
matching odd-shaped holes before the time was up. When the
buzzer sounded, the board would pop up and scare the heck out
of you. So stressful! I also had a board game called Mousetrap. It
was quite intricate in its design and set up. You could easily
spend an hour placing all the components for the mouse-catching chain of events. Honestly, I don't know if I ever really played
the game, or if I just spent all that time preparing for the game
and then accidentally triggering the mousetrap. The latter is a
fair assumption. We still like playing Clue with Curtis, as well as
the Game of Life.
I have to give a big thank you to my nephew's girlfriend - Lindsay saved me from a Christmas present of Baconopoly. John
knows I am all about anything and everything bacon, so he assumed Baconopoly was a win. Lindsay and I recently had a conversation about my lack of Monopoly love and she made sure to
save the day. I find it heartwarming that my family knows me so
well. And, for the record, I would have played Baconopoly just
because I love my nephew... but it probably would've involved the
sample bottle of liquor a friend gave me - and a week of my life.
