Details to follow. Contact [email protected] if you want to help with the arrangements. Care One Chesed Opportunity Every week, Arzei Darom sends volunteers to visit the patients at CareOne. They spend a couple of hours, performing the mitzvah of bikur cholim, by visiting with patients at Care One who have requested visitors. Some families have decided to go together and many bring their children along. For each family, the experience is unique, but every one of those visits is greatly appreciated. We want to thank the following families who have made this a great project over the past year: Borodach, Rosenbluth, Katzwer, Tyler, Grunstein, Goldgewert, Rothstein, Rubenstein, Cohen, Taubes, Sarue, Kahn, Weiss and Shore. But most of all we want to thank Susan Taubes for coordinating this chesed opportunity. As we begin a new calendar year, now is the time to either join the rotation or if your time commitments on shabat afternoon have changed, to drop off the list. Because so many families participate, the commitment is to visit Care One, once every three to four months. If you wish to be added to or removed from the rotation, please e-mail Susan Taubes at [email protected], so we can have an organized schedule each Shabbat. Welcome to our new Meals Coordinator We are pleased to announce that Adrianne Mittan has volunteered to become our new meals coordinator. As a community, we offer assistance with meals to families with new babies, families sitting shiva, and families who need a little help for various reasons, such as a medical emergency. Adrianne will oversee those efforts, and we thank her for stepping forward to fill this need. Adrianne, however, will need the help of everyone in the community to help us continue to fulfill these chesed opportunities when the arise. PARENT CHILD LEARNING Parent Child Learning offers a relaxed, fun atmosphere to learn. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend as long as they are able to learn with a parent for a 30-45 minute period. Followed by pizza and raffle prizes. Family learning topics varies from gemara, mishnayot, parsha, navi, and chumash. Help your child(ren) prepare for a Judaic test, review homework, or study hebrew reading with your kindergartners. This year, we are looking for Moms to help out with this event. We provide lots of assistance and guidance - no previous Mommy and Me experience needed! Kiddush Cooperative 2015 We have finished our second cycle of the Kiddush Cooperative and based on feedback from members, it continues to be a nice addition to our kiddush calendar allowing a group of families to sponsor at least seven to eight times a year a hot and delicious kiddush. Thus, we would like to start our third cycle following the yeshiva break. In order to do that we need at least twenty four families to participate at a cost of $200 per family. This is an excellent way to sponsor kiddush at a very reasonable price. While we typically order from our local vendors, we welcome feedback from Kiddush Cooperative members on what types of menus they would like to see. Kiddush Committee News Families interested in sponsoring a kiddush and/or seudat shlishit should contact Holly so that she can reserve the date on the shul calendar. Please also let Holly know if you would like to participate in an upcoming Crock Pot Challenge which generally takes place around Rosh Chodesh. We've been doing these for a year and are always seeking new families to take the challenge. Kiddush clean up is on a rotating basis, based on your last name. While we recognize that everyone in your group may not be available each Shabbat, we ask that you pitch in if you are assigned in that month so that the same people are not doing the clean-up each week. We all like kiddushes and we all make plans for lunch after shul so please be respectful of your fellow congregants by helping out during your assigned month if you are in shul. We also ask that you please watch your children during Kiddush to the extent possible, and to place their finished items in the garbage cans provided. Rabbi Ciment's new Sunday morning shiur at 7:50 am & weekly shiur on Wednesdays at 7:50 pm before ma'ariv. A number of Hebrew and English seforim are missing from our library. If you have any of them, please return them so that other members will have the ability to use them as well. Sinai Dinner - Feb 8 SINAI Dinner - Please help change the life of a child with special needs! SINAI Schools cordially invites you to our 2015 Annual Benefit Dinner. Each year we rely on the community to make a difference in the lives of this community's special needs children who otherwise could not afford to attend our schools. With our incredibly individualized programs designed to meet each child's specific needs, the nearly 1:2 staff-to-student ratio, and intense therapeutic supports within the classrooms, our costs per child are staggeringly high. Tuition reflects these costs, and without significant financial aid is beyond the reach of all but a handful of families.
