Cowboys / Kauboji
Tomislav Mršić
Based on the cult eponymous theater play, Cowboys tell a story
about a group of non-professional actors who are trying to
achieve something that their small, God-forgotten city hasn’t seen
in years: a theater play! Skillfully mixing drama and humour,
Cowboys enchanted the critics and audience alike, and have been
selected to represent Croatia in 2015 Oscar competition.
Gangster of Love / Gangster te voli
Nebojša Slijepčević
Best described as a blend of documentary and comedy, Gangster
of Love is a portrait of a unique Croatian enterpreneur, who
became famous by matching lonely men and women in rural
parts of Croatia. His track record is full of successful love stories,
but his next case will be a tougher nut to crack...
Handyman / Majstori
Dalibor Matanić
A romantic comedy about Keka, a desperate housewife who
decides to take a break from her monotonous life by running away
to the small coastal village where she spent her honeymoon - and
the last place where she felt truly happy. However, her husband
Baja and her courter Ilija have a plan to get her back.
Koko and the Ghosts / Koko i duhovi
Daniel Kušan
Koko and the Ghosts is a family film based on a popular Croatian
series of young-adult novels about a twelve-year-old hero, brave
enough to suppress his fears and smart enough to solve big
mysteries. Here he investigates the mysterious case of a dead old
man who has begun to re-appear as a ghost.
Night Boats / Noćni brodovi
Igor Mirković
Night Boats is a melodrama about love in an old people’s home.
Helena and Jakov thought their life was over until love stroke
them. Like some teenagers running from home, they take off
into their romance – a romance they thought they would never
experience again.
Sonja and the Bull / Sonja i bik
Vlatka Vorkapić
The clash between urban and rural Croatia gets a new twist in this
classical screwball comedy about an unlikely romance between
an animal rights activist Sonja and a young man Stipe whose
father organizes traditional bull fights. The film was a sleeper box
office success in Croatian cinemas, generating strong word-ofmouth buzz and attracting almost 100.000 viewers.
Vegetarian Cannibal / Ljudožder vegetarijanac
Branko Schmidt
A controversial story about an immoral gyneacologist who,
distracted by his ruthless campaign to become head of the clinic,
makes series of fatal mistakes that result in the death of a patient.
Supposedly inspired by true events, the film was highly praised
for Rene Bitorajac’s strong central performance, as well as its
uncompromising view at the bleak parts of contemporary society.
Vis-À-Vis
Nevio Marasović
A director and an actor decide to spend their winter holidays on
the beautiful Croatian island of Vis, working on a new screenplay.
Due to the island’s isolation, the two of them are unexpectedly
faced with their own frustrations, which intertwine with the plot
of the screenplay in an unlikely way. Highly praised for its smart
writing and nuanced performances, Vis- À-Vis is a story about art,
devotion, friendship and love.
