PRESIDENT’S PAGE
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
A new year is here once again
and it’s time to both peer forward
and to look back. In the past year
the club hosted over 30 events, a
mix of social, driving and technical/educational. That’s a real
tribute to our members stepping
forward and getting involved
and it resulted in great turnouts.
While it will be hard to top 2014,
I’m looking forward to keeping
up the momentum and continuing to move the club forward.
To start that process for 2015,
we will be having our annual
Planning Meeting on Saturday,
January 24th, at Rounds Bakery
on Moana Lane (see the event
information on our Calendar
of Events page). This is a great
opportunity for members to put
forth event suggestions, pick
dates and set the calendar for
the year. Several events already
on the calendar are of special
note: the Club’s 50th Anniversary
Weekend, May 15th-17th and
the Zone 7 Concours on Labor
Day weekend. Planning for both
events has been in the works for
Craig Kugler
President
some time and we expect to have
great turnouts for both. Get more
details and learn how you can
participate at the Planning Party.
Make a New Year’s resolution to
attend a new event this year!

On behalf of all our members,
I’d like to thank Karen Vibe for
the outstanding job she has done
as our President for the last two
years. Karen has done a wonderful job of encouraging members,
especially new members, to get
involved at the board level and
through hosting events. She also
was instrumental in keeping
our region in the PCA National
sightline for a national event.
For those who don’t know, the
PCA Escape event for 2016 will
be held at the Resort at Squaw
Creek. Karen represented our
club extremely well and I know
she will continue to be involved
on our board going forward.
On a sadder note, Vic Shannon,
a member of almost 10 years,
passed away before Thanksgiving. I want to extend our deepest
sympathy to his wife Karen and
his family.
A new year; new challenges;
new opportunities. I hope to see
you at our next event. Until then,
be safe!

Ranson Webster’s Porsche
Collection
On October 11th and 12th our club and the South Oregon Cascade Region PCA took tours of Ranson
Webster’s Porsche Collection. The collection is arguably one of the top three private Porsche collections in
the world. A significant portion of Ranson’s collection is devoted to the 356 Model, including nearly every
model year. Extraordinary Porsches were seen including a 1962 Porsche Type 804 Formula One car.

Christmas Party
The SNR-PCA Christmas Party was held at the
Sparks Nugget Terrace Room Saturday, December
13th. The evening was a celebration of all of the
successful events and fun club members had in
2014. A slide show featured photos of members
enjoying themselves at the Dust Off Tour, Big
Springs Gardens, the Summer Wine Socials, Cabot
Cove and Parade.
The Nugget bartender served members their
refreshment of choice in a room with beautiful
holiday decor and Christmas music. After everyone had a chance to say hello and catchup with old
friends, dinner was served buffet style. The Nugget
presented us with a holiday feast of antipasto,
salads, salmon, pork tenderloin and chicken. After
a wonderful dinner discussing friends’ Christmas plans, dessert was served including artfully
decorated Christmas cookies and every dessert
imaginable.
Outgoing President Karen Vibe then took the
stage and thanked everyone for their work in
organizing events that allowed the club to have a
wonderful year under Karen’s enthusiastic leadership. Steve and Mayla Kent were awarded Enthusiast of the Year. New officers were introduced:
Craig Kugler, President; Steve Kent, Vice President;
Carlis Chaussee, Secretary; Debbie Dell, Treasurer; Karen O’Larey, Membership; Doug Driver,
Competition; Cathy Rossner, Circular Editor; Rick
Baker, Activities; Rich Chew, Webmaster; Merlin
Simons, Member-at-Large; Jess Lattin, Tech Chair.
Craig then proceeded to thank and honor our
outstanding outgoing President, Karen Vibe, who
enthusiastically led SNR-PCA for the last two
years. Karen was given a standing ovation and a
PCA messenger bag to use on her next PCA trip.
The Christmas Party was a very friendly gathering
that celebrated our friendships and good times had
in 2014.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
Rapscallion Seafood House and Bar was the
location for the 2014 Volunteer Appreciation
Dinner on Saturday, November 8th. Rapscallion served a wonderful dinner in our private
room as members discussed their plans for the
upcoming holidays and our Porsches. President
Karen Vibe then spoke, honoring each member who had sponsored an event in 2014. Each
member was given a gift certificate and a round
of applause.

Cayenne Launch Party
Bill Pearce Reno Porsche held a Launch Party for the new 2015 Porsche Cayenne on November
22nd. SNR-PCA members attending were presented with a beautiful white 2015 Cayenne Turbo
to admire as well as delicious catered hors d’oeuvres, wine and beverages. Members visited and
discussed Porsche’s non-sportscar vehicles and how sporty and fun they are to drive. As members
left, the dealership graciously gave each attendee the coveted 2015 Porsche CalendarMonochrome.
December Concours Committee Meeting
We know our members – you love cars! You particularly love the Porsche mark – whether it is
a 356, 912, 911, Boxster, 996, 928, Cayenne, 997, or 991 that you race, daily drive, modify, restore
or keep as a garage queen. Part of that love is showing it. Concours is not just about the fanatical
clean enthusiasts. A concourse event is a celebration of the automobile and you will want to come
see all the Porsches on display – old, new, ordinary, unusual – and bring your Porsche out and
participate. The SNR-PCA 2015 Concours Committee met December 6th at Steve Kent’s home
and selected a date of Saturday-Meet and Greet/Dinner, and Sunday-Concours, September 5 and
6th (Labor Day Weekend) for the event. Two venues are in the running for the event: Galena
Park/Atlantis Casino Resort and the Green next to Hyatt Regency Resort at Lake Tahoe. The event
will be, as it has in the past, Saturday meet and greet then dinner and Sunday Concours. Mark it
on your calendar and join our committee as we need help with this event! Next meeting is February 28th 11:00 a.m., at Steve Kent’s house , 7029 Heatherwood Dr., Reno.
Zone 7 Awards Banquet
The Zone 7 Awards Banquet will be held February 21st at Porsche of Livermore, 3100 Las Posistas Rd., Livermore, CA. The winners of the Zone 7 Autocross and Concours Series and the West
Coast Club Racing Series will be announced and honored.
Socializing begins at 6:30p.m. with dinner at 7:00p.m. The awards ceremony will follow.
Dinner will feature tropical grilled mahi-mahi, jerked chicken, salad, coconut rice, sweet potatoes
and mango coconut bread pudding for dessert.
$55.00 per person (beer and wine is included)
Please send your check, made payable to PCA Zone 7, to Paul Czopek, 904 Changason Way,
Modesto, CA 95351, before February 16th. Email [email protected] for more information.
