GREETINGS PIKE COMMUNITY
A New You!
Hello and welcome to a new you here at the Pike YMCA! Every day that you wake up begins
a new day which means you have the opportunity to begin anew. So why not begin with you?
Whether it's working on your personal fitness on your own or one-on-one with a personal
trainer, or working on your personal wellness; we have many exciting things happening this year
for you and for our Pike Families.
Have you ever wanted to take part in a run/walk race but really haven't had someone to help
train and motivate you to do so? Well now is the time for you to get up and get moving and
start anew! We are bringing back our Mini Marathon training program and adding a Treadmill
Trainer class and Couch to 5k type class, any of the three classes will get you moving and
discover the inner walker or runner in you.
Being well in spirit and mind is just as important as being well in body at all ages. That's why
the Pike YMCA is dedicated in providing classes, activities and events that focuses in all three
as well as we are For Youth Development, For Healthy Living and For Social Responsibility. We
will still offer some of our traditional youth sports and enrichment programs this winter and
spring. However intentionally, we are increasing activities that the entire family can be part
of in the Spring. For our Active Older Adults, look for the Spring Fling dance. Everyone can
take part in one of our "Small Community" groups such as Family Fun Game Night, DIY (Do It
Yourself), and weekly Bible Study or come out to our Sweetheart Dance in February.
I realize that all of the classes, activities, and events that the Pike Staff Team and Volunteers
are planning would not take place without you. You are crucial to our success. Whether it's
taking part of in programs offered and providing us great constructive feedback, from instilling
an ethic of volunteerism by volunteering your time to help coach a youth league or helping
to cut up supplies for DIY, or wanting to serve on Pike's Center Advisory Board as a Board
Member, to making a monetary contribution to our Annual Campaign that will help young people
achieve their potential, empower people of all ages to lead healthier lives, and strengthen the
bonds of community in Pike Township. Let this year be a new you!
Blessings,
Monic R. Hill, Executive Director

a positive level through service projects,
conducting fund raisers, and volunteering
in YMCA Special Events and Programs. This
program runs throughout the school year
and a one-time payment covers the entire
year. Students can run for elected officials
of the club. This is a great resume builder
for college as well as a great way to help out

HELP STUDENTS ACHIEVE MORE
Y-Achievers College Access & Success
Program-The YMCA plays a major role in
ensuring that students and families have
an opportunity to continue their education
beyond high school. The Y partners with
higher education service organizations to
build a pipeline of services that will assist
students to achieve college access and
success. Program activities include college
planning and preparation for academic and
financial success, homework assistance and
tutoring, college tours, help with researching
and completing scholarship applications, and
assistance with FAFSA completion at College
Goal Sunday.
In order to accomplish these goals, the Y
needs volunteer mentors to help guide
students through their educational years
and into careers where all persons may
become self-supporting and active community
members.
Please work with us in a partnership that will
improve the lives of youth and families in our
community. For more information,
please contact Courtney Crawley at
[email protected].
