ITANAGAR,
Jan
9:
Arunachal Pradesh is strictly
monitoring movement of
underground elements in the
state's territory following
'Operation All-out' launched by
security forces in neighbouring
Assam against NDFB (S)
militants.
"We are working on all
movements on such elements
who have reportedly sneaked
into the state's territory after
operation launched against
them," said Director General
of Police S Nithianandam in
an interaction programme
with media persons at police
headquarters here today.
"We have excellent coordination with Army and
Assam police and putting out
all efforts to flush them out
of the state," he said, adding,
IGP (law and order) I D
Shukla went to a few such
areas yesterday in the interstate boundary and launched
operation to flush them out.
The anti-insurgency operation led by Shukla is going
on in Boguli, Deka, Kakoi
and Borsetum reserve forest
areas in state’s Papum Pare
district adjoining the Lilabari
airport in North Lakhimpur
district of neighbouring Assam.
The DGP while presenting
a report on various achievements of the department in
the last two years claimed that
due to anti-insurgency steps,
underground activities have
significantly decreased in
troubled Tirap, Changlang
and Longding districts.
He said, various measures
have been initiated to modernise the state police with
state-of-the-art weapons, recruitment of police personnel
and use of modern technology.
"The only way to know
our strength and weakness is
through feedback of common
citizen," the DGP flanked by
IGP Shukla, AIGP Tussar
Taba and a host of senior
cops said.
"Equally important is the
use of technology in policing.
Since the integrity of police
force has always been questioned, it is of utmost
importance that all police
work is done with the use of
modern technology. All procedures should be recorded in
CCTV, audio visual tapes,"
he said. ––PTI
recting the civil judge (Sr
Division), Thoubal ‘to dispose off original (declaration)
suit No.12 of 2013 as early
as possible preferably within
one year from the date of
communication of this order..’, in order to avoid such
incidents in the future.
The public meeting took
serious note of the incident as
police personnel posted at
Lilong police station led by
an officer miserably failed to
enforce law and order despite
their physical presence during
the incident.
The body has also demanded compensation from
the State Government for the
loss and damage of properties
as per the customary law of
Zeliangrong.
The Zeliangrong customary law regards the pulling
down/destruction of a house
something like the crime of
committing murder.
As the incident happened
in the physical presence of
the police personnel, the meeting ruled that the destruction
would be considered premeditated and pre-planned by
the State with ulterior motives
in case the State Government
fails to compensate the damages.
The public meeting further
warned the perpetrators to
refrain from committing such
unlawful activities in the future.
It further demanded the
same to maintain communal
harmony adding that similar
activities, if repeated, would
not be tolerated.
